Has anyone written a Eulogy but had someone else give it?
I know I am jumping the gun, but I am just trying to prepare myself.
I would love to write a Eulogy for my Dad, but I don't think I will be able to actually speak without crying.
Has anyone had someone else read it?

Re: Has anyone written a Eulogy but had someone else give it?
I almost did. Let me explain. I was asked to speak at a memorial service for my father but knew I lacked the composure to do so.
Instead, I was very involved in assisting other speakers with background information as well as co-writing articles/memorials for professional organizations he was involved with. As much as I would have loved to speak, the most I could do was say a few words (mainly thanks) at the end.
Maybe jot down thoughts you have now, not necessarily as a "eulogy", just a tribute to who your father is. I bet it will help you cope

Re: Has anyone written a Eulogy but had someone else give it?
When my grandma passed, my aunt wrote the eulogy, but my uncle read it. I think it's more my aunt's control issues, but that's neither here nor there.
If you wrote it and had someone else read it, I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

When my MIL died my SIL wrote a beautiful eulogy and her DD read it. It was very touching.

First off-
I can't even begin to imagine what you are going through.
Secondly- DH's friend's Dad died a few weeks ago- and he wrote a eulogy, but the officiant read it on his behalf.

Yes, I wrote one for my grandma and had the deacon read it at the funeral service. We just had it at the funeral home so it was less formal but I still think whatever you want to do is fine.

Re: Has anyone written a Eulogy but had someone else give it?
When my Great Uncle passed away, his grandson wrote a Eulogy and asked me to read it for him. It went perfectly fine and he was very thankful for it. The situation was a little different because he was actually out of the country and not able to attend the funeral, but i'm sure everyone would understand that this would be something extremely difficult for you. When my grandfather passed away, I wrote a eulogy for him and I had a very difficult time trying to get through it. Do whatever makes it easier for you. I am so sorry you even have to think about this

Re: Has anyone written a Eulogy but had someone else give it?
I wrote mine out for DH in case I couldn't get through it.
My dad was poised as back up.
But ultimately, even though I almost broke down a couple times, I knew no one could deliver it the way I could, so I did it.
