Has anyone's OB ever guessed the gender incorrectly early on?
So I'm 11weeks and went to my OB yesterday due to some spotting. The entire time I was there my LO was VERY ACTIVE nonstop, backflips and all, it was so cute. A few times he/she gave us a full view of his behind. So with my permission my OB guessed what it was. Although she said it's still very early.
Now don't get me wrong, the most important thing is that my LO is healthy. But deep down I really want a and that's not what her guess was. Just wondering if anyone has ben in a similar situation where the OB was wrong.

I think it is still VERY early. They say that before 14 weeks boy and girl parts look exactly the same!!!

I would say 11 weeks is very early to guess accurately. My perinatologist guessed at my NT scan appt and that was at 11.5 weeks. He guessed girl and was wrong.

I would say 11 weeks is VERY early to guess! However, when the guess is wrong it's usually a girl guess that turns out to be a boy. That happened to someone we know

That's what I was thinking, and I definitely saw a little something that the OB was noticing. If the earlier post about boy and girl parts looking the same at this point then there could be a possibility.

i definitely wouldn't rule anything out at this point girl and boy parts DO start off looking very similar

Yep, until about 14 weeks, the genitalia looks almost the same in girls or boys.
The difference is that in a 12 week sono, if you get a good profile shot, you can see the baby's nub (genitalia) and if it's pointed up it's likely to be a boy and if it's pointed horizontal, it's more likely to be a girl.
Other than that, I wouldn't really trust a guess before 14 or 15 weeks. I've even heard of sonos at 16 & 17 weeks being wrong on here. It happens.

Re: Has anyone's OB ever guessed the gender incorrectly early on?
my friend is pregnant , they wanted another boy so much, at 12 weeks they begged the OB to guess and the OB thought it was a boy , then the OB was almost confident it was a boy at 14 weeks when they went for a sono because of spotting. My friend was so excited . They went back at 16 week sono and turns out it's a girl !

Thanks girls!! I probably shouldn't have let her guess . . . but it's so much fun!
Well either me or DH will be over the moon bc he's dying for a little, with good reason since he's the only son of an only son of an only son . . . so it's up to us to keep the name going. But I still dream of a little girl

Mine guessed wrong.
It was fine; all we wanted was a healthy baby. But I'm glad we didn't paint the nursery early!
