hashimoto diagnosis
My dh has it and so far doesn't need meds or anything. They just monitor him every 6 months. Are they starting you on meds?

Re: hashimoto diagnosis
Read the book or go to the website, Stop The Thyroid Madness, to educate yourself on what is going on with your body.
Check your copper and zinc levels, and honestly, look into an integrative physician who can guide you through this.
A conventional endocrinologist will just medicate you, but not work on altering your antibodies. The immune system is dynamic. If you heal the underlying issues, hashimotos can go into remission.
And if you really want to get into things look into your genetics for methylation :)

hashimoto diagnosis
I was taking synthroid but stopped because I just can't remember to take it. I really should though.
However, I have heard some people do really well on a gluten free or paleo type diet, which have good results with a lot of autoimmune diseases. A lot of people say they don't even need any medication at all after being on the diet for awhile.

This exactly. I have hashimotos. Stay away from soy, it's the worst ever. You have an autoimmune disease. Staying away from gluten and dairy will help reduce inflammation. Many people use selenium as a supplement. I currently use endoflex which is an essentional oil blend. I am working on putting mine into remission and getting off Synthroid bc all it does it kill your thyroid faster so you will ultimately need it removed.
Also if you need meds there is a natural one made of a pig thyroid. Not a lot of doctors want to prescribe it because it's so cheap. Instead they push Synthroid because it's manufactured in a lab.

Re: hashimoto diagnosis
My DH had it. He takes synthroid...dosage has steadily increased over the years based on his bloodwork. Has no problems.

hashimoto diagnosis
I have had it for about 8 years. Started out on 25 mcgr on Synthroid, now up to 175. My endo says my thyroid is no longer functioning at all. Gluten free helps, and avoiding soy. Also, be aware that once you have an autoimmune disease, you are prone to others. I was diagnosed with Lupus 2 years ago as well. There are lots of Hashimotos groups on Facebook, and they are great for gathering info.

Re: hashimoto diagnosis
My mom has it. She hasn't had to change her diet, nor has she had any issues with sugar, thank god. Managed well with synthroid.

hashimoto diagnosis
I have it and it is well managed with synthroid. You can follow an anti inflammatory diet if you choose but the only major dietary changes necessary are to avoid foods that interact with the medication.

Re: hashimoto diagnosis
Just got second round of blood work back and numbers went up Now on 75mg
These were numbers
Your laboratory evaluation shows TSH of 4.21 (normal is 0.4 to 2.5), Free T4 is 1.11 (normal), antibody to thyroid peroxidase 456 (0-34) and antibody to thyroglobulin 11.5 (<0.9).
Doc said the antibody numbers are very high
