Haunted School Update....

So, after telling our new boss about the "ghost" at our school, we were pretty sure he thought we were crazy. This past week, while school was out for vacation, he was in the building alone at night doing some work. He was on the third floor of the building and went down to get something in his office on the first floor when the water in MY classroom turned on! He quickly shut it off and ran back upstairs. Then, he came down the again, and the lights were turning on and off, on and off, on and off. All by themselves. He officially is a believer

I recently purchased a digital voice recorder for rehearsals and concerts to give my ensembles instant feedback, etc. Well, this is also the same tool that TAPS uses to capture electronic voice phenomena (voices that are there that you cannot hear with your ear at the time, but are there when you play back the recording). So, I took three of my friends and went into our director's office on the second floor. She has had a lot of experiences in the shcool, so the five of us stood in her office and asked questions with the recorder on. I went over the recording last night with my sound editing equipment and when my friend asked, "Did you work here?" there was an answer! A man's voice responded, Nope! Then, at another point in the recording when we were all just being quiet and listening, there was a woman whipsering softly, but we couldn't make out what it was saying. There was no one else in the building and you could hear the difference in the voices of us and the voices we heard. They were weird, not like ours. And this is a super sensitive, very expensive recorder. I'm dying to spend a whole night trying to catch EVPs because those two were caught in a matter of minutes

That is just so crazy--- you should contact that show "A Haunting in..." find someone to get to the bottom of it!

What other questions did you ask? How was the tone of their voices? How did they sound different?

This stuff fascinates me-- and scares the sh!t out of me as well!

Well, I do not post publicly where I work, but FM me if you want to know.
We asked did you live here? (my school was a house at one time), What's your name? Was it you who worked here? Are you XXXXXX XXXXXXXX? (I cannot post the name because then it would give away where I work). That was really it. We did it just kind of as a joke, but I didn't tell anyone else what I heard and let them listen to it on their own and sure enough, they all heard what I did.
Basically, in the past, people have seen a figure of a woman dressed in early 20th century clothing, my friend and I had a window open while we were watching it, another person was in the building early in the morning, like 6-6:30am and heard a woman singin in French, but she was alone in the building, we've had doors open and shut themselves, and most recently, in December, my friend and I were in the building alone at night setting up for my concert and someone said, "Hello," to us. It's hard to explain what it sounds like, almost like it's in slow motion and muffled a bit. Let me see if I can find an example of an EVP online. I tried to see if I could link our sound clip, but I can't figure out the software enough yet.
We are actually planning another sleepover with some kids at the school, so we are definitely going to be doing more recordings. The first time we slept there, we heard children running around on the third floor, but there was no one up there because the only door leading there was locked and all the kids were accounted for. This was at like 3am and it was so loud that it kept us all up.
I'm not scared by it anymore, I'm fascinated. I feel so incredibly safe and at home in my school. I really believe there's nothing to be scared of, and everyone else I work with who has experienced something feels the same.

I was just thinking the other day that we haven't had an update in a while!

I know what you mean by not being scared of the "ghost". I truly believe that my house has a spirit of some sort who lives here (the woman who lived in the house her entire life up until she died in the hospital at age 90) and it does not scare me at all. It's hard to explain, but I always thought it would be scary, but after a while I am used to her and say hello when I know she is here!

I think I'd have to wait until I give birth...seeing or hearing a ghost might put me into early labor...

For whomever asked, EVPs are electronic voice phenomenon. It's when you hear something on a recording that you didn't hear at the time you were taping it.
As for TAPS, we're really trying to feel out our new boss about this. Because we're a school, it's such a sensitive issue. I would not want the kids to be scared, so we don't really mention it during the day, and I would be worried that they'd find out that there were "ghost hunters" in the school, ya know?
