have my consultation with Dr. B next week - questions
I finally did it --- I have wanted to go see Dr. B ever since our 2nd loss -- and I finally contacted him on Tuesday.
I have my first consult with him a week from today --- I have some questions
1) What happens at the consult -- is it just talking in an office?
2) Should my husband be at the meeting? I am not sure if he can get off
3) If/when get pregnant do you get exams at his office -- or is everything done at your dr / re? ( I know this is jumping the gun)
4) What questions should I ask? I feel so clueless and I don't know why!!!!
You girls are the best - thank goodness for this forum :

Re: have my consultation with Dr. B next week - questions
How exciting!!!
1- At my consult we talked for about 45 mins in his office. I also had bloodwork done. Depending on where you are in your cycle, he may do a sono... Just be aware that all sonos are internal. It's not a big deal at all, just something to be aware of.
2- My dh was there and I'm glad he was because I have a hard time remembering important information. I think it's really all preference.. My dh comes to a lot of the appts with me. You should do what makes you and your dh comfortable.
3- When you get pregnant, you see him weekly until 10-12wks.
4- The questions you ask depend on your situation. When I first saw him 2yrs ago, I already had a small history. I brought my records and we discussed protocols and timeframes for when he thought I could reasonably expect to be pregnant. I never imagined this journey would be SO long but we uncovered many other issues along the way!!
Good luck!!!!!!!!! Dr.B is so comforting. He's a great doctor and a good man.

I just wanted to say.. my dh and I were actually reminiscing about our first appt the other day.... and I remember saying o my dh that I hoped they wouldn't have to do blood work at my first appt!! I was terrified of needles!!! Now I inject myself with lovenox twice a day.. intramuscular injects.. I inject in bathrooms, in the car on the side of a highway.. It's just funny from where you start out to where you end up!!

Ditto... I made Shaun come with me and i drank so much water and OJ thinking that i was going to get a zillion vials taken lol... that happened a few weeks later (Dr b's like, i'll leave you with just enough blood to be able to get home, lol ) he was right. I had to drive later and drove down a street the wrong way... lol Shaun was like WHAT THE EFFFF LOL...
anywho, yes, its a far cry from passing out at the sight of a needle to injecting them into myself lol... Shaun watched once and he walked away and was looking a little green lol

i agree with pennycat and ang, just to add that you should bring any medical records you have with you, especially if you have any relating to your mcs or bloodwork.
you wont regret the decision, good luck!
