Have or will any of you be preggo for a friend's wedding?

I am in a wedding next November & I really don't think DH and I want to wait another year to start TTC. We are thinking of starting around July. I know I shouldn't wait because of a wedding, but the bachelorette party will be in Florida and I don't know how I feel about flying or being around a bunch of drunk girls for a weekend.

So my question is if any of you have had to deal with this type of decision & how did/are you handling it?

Thanks Chat Icon

ETA: I am matron of honor!

I have not had to deal with that but I think you should not put your plans on hold and if you do get preggo in July, you can definitely still fly for the bachlorette party. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'm a BM in my friends wedding this April. I'll be 7 mos pregnant. We ordered my dress already and they went with a size which is huuuuuuge on me right now. Better to take in than let out! My friend knew we would trying so she wasn't surprised when it happened. I did ask her if she wanted me to not be in the BP and she said I was crazy for even asking that. Had to give her the option though! I would say don't put your life on hold for anyone. My MOH was 5 mos pregnant for my wedding this past November.

I was maid of honor in my sisters wedding at 8 months pregnant. Finding a "formal" dress was a nightmare, but we got it done. Being around all the drunk people for various events was fine - I didn't mind, I was so happy to be pregnant. And in fact, I think I got more attention at the wedding than my sister did!

I was worried about the same thing and DH got so mad at me for it!

I will end up havig my baby (God willing) the beginning of August and 6 weeks later will be in my BF's wedding. If I had not gotten pregnant when I did, I would have waited 2-3 months so not to be sooo big.

I was in a wedding at 34 weeks pregnant. I didn't even have a maternity dress...I just ordered a size 18, I think it was Chat Icon

Never was there a question in my mind to postpone TTC. I was thrilled to be a part of the day and the bride was too!

I had a blast at the wedding--watching drunk people is funny when you're completely sober! The bachelorette party was 2 nights in Philly, and I wasn't even invited--that kind of hurt my feelings even though most likely I wouldn't have gone.

I would go for it! However, I might "abstain" if I thought it would cause me to become pregnant and due the exact month of the wedding.

Good luck!!

I was in a wedding party where she just ordered a bigger size and another where she ordered her regular size and an extra panel of dress.

I was 5 weeks preggo in my friends wedding and my dress was way to small because it was ordered so far in advance. They had to take the whole thing out and it looked TERRIBLE!! If I would have known I was going to be PG in advance I would have ordered a bigger size. It is better to order bigger and have them take it in than to be stuck with a small dress.

We just found out that a couple we know (late 40's) who have been living together for 15 years will be geting married on April 21 a few weeks after I give birth.

I'm sure they are having a very small (non-typical for LI) wedding, probably even at their house. I'll be breastfeeding two so I'm outChat Icon but we're going to try to arrange to have help so DH can sneak away for a few hours and attend.

Re: Have or will any of you be preggo for a friend's wedding?

I got pregnant and was due the same week of my sister's wedding. I cried so many times over it (although we were trying to get pregnant so I knew it was a possibility) and was also her MOH. I was at the wedding 9 months pregnant, 3 cm dialated, 100% effaced, did all my MOH duties danced ALL night long, had a blast, then had my DD 3 days later. It will all work out - you never know how long it can take to get pregnant or what events will take place in the meantime. If you and DH are ready - I say go for it!Chat Icon

ETA: I was normally a size 5 and they ordered me an 18. So I was prepared to have major alterations, if I was to go early or be very pregnant. It would have worked out either way!

Thanks for all your responses ladies. I am feeling alot better about it now. Although my dress has already been ordered, my MIL is a seamstress & I am sure she could do something for me. DH & I know that it may not happen right away & will probbaly stick to our plan to start in July or August.

Thanks again! Chat Icon

I was the matron of honor at 20 weeks. It was fun! And especially nice to get all jazzed up while preggo and feeling fat. Chat Icon
