Have you done something to make others and yourself feel real good?

like the other day i was in boston market getting diner, the guy in front of me barly spoke english, but looked like he was starving, and was on his last dollar. he needed 3 dollars more to get what he liked so i gave it to him. i may not have much but what i ahve recieved from everyone in the past 8 months, it was a little i could give back.

so what have you done or has someone done for you?

i guess with the holidays this is on my mind

That was very sweet of you. I try to give as much as i can...its not always money - sometimes its time, an ear, etc.

Even silly little things that mean nothing to us can really help someone else out.

Tonight, Rich and I were at the Cheesecake Factory, waiting for 2 friends to join us. We put our names on the list TWICE (1 me, 1 him), just in case our friends didn't make it early enough for the 1st time our pager thingy went off and we had to use #2.....

wellllll our friends DIDN'T make it early enough, because our #1 pager went off and there were still only 2 of us. We saw a preggo Mom and Dad struggling with their 2 kids, and gave them the buzzing pager so they could sit and eat immediately. They were so grateful, and it really wasn't a big deal. Sometimes the little things make people so happy.

We donated the turkey that my DH got from work to our church. He said it was so good when he got there- they had a freezer full of turkeys and so many donations.

I packed an elderly womans groceries yesterday, and helped her load up her car. She was so sweet, and so thankful.

This was a number of years ago but, A good friend had just gone thru a divorce with two small kids (i think they were 3 & 4) and she also had a 18 yr old. She was saying this would be the first year that there would be nothing under the tree from Santa for her (her kids always got soooo excited about what Santa brought their mom), so with her older son's help. I created a santa box for her. It's funny the whole thing only cost me about $20.00 and it completely made her day.

Her son and I finally told her about a week later where it came from.....it's funny that was probably 15 years ago and we still laugh and cry everytime we talk about it.

yes, it was small but I think the people were so grateful and it made me feel good...

We were at cold stone last night and we had coupons- we saw a large family and we gave them a coupon-buy one get one free ...Honestly, it was small, but they were so happy and thanked us so much.. it felt good!

I Have given someone Money at the bagel place when they were short and they thanked me.

I donated a turkey and a bunch of other food at school. Not much, but made me feel good.

We were in Stop & Shop on wednesday night and the woman in front of us on line was buying a few things (definitely looked like it was for thanksgiving the next day).

Well, she was frantically looking for the $40 she thought she had in her hand a second ago and couldn't find it. She didn't have any credit cards to pay for it either and was searching her bag for a few minutes with no luck. The girl was coming over to void her purchase, but my DH piped up and said he would pay for it! It was about $12 worth of food.

The woman was SO grateful and wanted our address to pay us back, etc. We said it was okay and to have a happy thanksgiving!! She must have thanked us 1,000 times.

I try to do little things myself.

When I was 20, I was in a pretty bad car accident, the cops left and I was waiting for my dad to show up. I was blocking traffic and afraid. Suddenly, a man comes up and knocks on the window, I freak out. The guy is yelling "I am not going to hurt you, I promise! I just don't want to you to be alone. I'll sit behind you in my car and wait til someone comes to help you" I rolled down my window a crack and said "Thank you" and he said "No problem, I wouldn't want my wife or daughter to be all alone in a situation like this." My dad got there about 20 minutes later and the guy pulled away. I never got a chance to thank him again. It wasn't monetary, but it made me feel so much safer. That is what taught me to help people wherever you can.
