Does not speaking to each other count? We were both physically home, but not in the same room. Let's just say it wasn't the best way to ring in the new year.

We did that one year. I was in the other room at midnight. He was with his friend. We made up though after his friend went home!

I haven't.

Although we celebrate the holidays, it would be ok with me. I don't put much importance on one day even if it is a holiday. It's the every day that counts more.

Yes, so far...two yrs in a row.

Life of cop...DH had to work that nite.
No getting out of it.

So, I enjoy it with my friends who happen to be in the same situation.

Same here. DH always has to work New Years (or any holiday for that matter). It s*cks, but after a while, you start to get used to it and appreciate the holidays you do have together more.

Same for me. But somehow he managed to get xmas off this year Chat Icon

Chat Icon DH has worked almost every New Years Eve since we've been together. It stinks because my friends always want to go out, but its weird because I know I'd spend a lot of money - and all I want to do is just call him.... Still trying to figure out what I'm going to do this year. Maybe I'll just hang out with my parents, or something.

yep for 3 of the 4 years he served in the USMC. It does suck but call each other at about 11:50 so that you are sure to get through, we all know the phones suck on NYE, and just try to be thankful that you have him and that it is only one day you aren't together and not months at a time, etc.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Try to celebrate with family/friends and make the most of it. I hope that you never have to go through this again.

DH always works on New Years. I usually go out, and we celebrate when he gets home at 5ish in the AM.

This year I will be home solo with my new little friendChat Icon

TIVO the ball dropping and have it all over again! Get champagne and cook a yummy dinner another night and celebrate.

Yes! NYE 99...he had to work since he's in the security field...and they were all worried about Y2K. It was our first NYE, I was so sad.

I can't tell you how many holidays, weekends, anniversarys and nights we have spent apart due to his schedule as a cop.
I am almost used to it by now! (but not quite) Chat Icon
