Have you ever applied for a job that you knew your friend was applying for?

An acquaintance of mine is applying for the same position that I am considering. I have more experience then she does, and almost would be surprised if she were chosen over me.

Do I do it? Do I tell her?

Re: Have you ever applied for a job that you knew your friend was applying for?

6 weeks ago my WHOLE office was

closing so ppl were applying with in. Including myself and my close friends. We told each other and understood that who ever got it (between us) that we'd be cool with it. It was a very emtional time so its a bit different...it was bitter sweet when one of us wld get the job and the rest were told no.

For you, if this person is not a close friend I wld keep to yourself. If she asks then be honest, short and sweet. Wish them luck and kick a@@ at interview.
Thanks my opinion.

Good Luck.

Depends.

Personally, if I knew the person was applying first and then she told me as part of a conversation, no I don't think I could apply for the same job. I feel it would be betraying her and took advantage.

If you are applying for the same job as a coincidence, then there is nothing wrong with it.

Depends on whether the friend told you about the job opening; I'd feel like they should have "dibs" if they knew about it first. That said; id have no problem applying if it didn't work out for the friend after to talking to her about it of course.

If a job is posted in your office and it a position your interested in then you shld
go for it no matter who else is also.

I wouldn't hold back on a job b/c another person friend or not is applying too. Plus Big B said this was an "acquaintance" so she needs to go for it.
