Have you ever been so mad at your dog...
That you couldn't even look at him/her?
We JUST moved into a new house. One of the best features is that all the staircases have these beautiful built-in baby gates at the top.
First day home alone in the new house and Brodie CHEWED THROUGH ONE!!!
Now my gorgeous new house is already marred.
Luckily DH got home first and cleaned it up, because if I had walked in on the mess and destruction I think I would have called the pound.
As it was I wanted nothing to do with the dog the rest of the night and he knew it. He slunk around me and would sneak little glances my way.
I finished my ice cream and didn't let him lick the bowl and no snuggling on the bed last night.
I'm still so pisssssed.

Re: Have you ever been so mad at your dog...
Is it possible he is having troubles adjusting to the new home and new life? Was he very bored, alone a long time? Does he usually do things like this?
Whenever I get mad, I try to think about what was different for this even to occur if it's an unusual one. I try to remind myself dogs have no other way to control their anxiety and/or boredeom than to act out in chewing, barking, biting, etc...that they have emotions too that they have to deal with. And sometimes this is the way these things come out.
Sorry about your gate.

Re: Have you ever been so mad at your dog...
i get crazy mad when he snaps at me. It's rare but it's when he has some sort of food that he shouldn't and i try to take it away. I just get fumming because how could he ever snap at me who cares and loves him so much? I also get very mad when he jumps on the table (new habit) to try and get food.
When he snaps, I turn him on his back and scold him, than put him in his room for a time out. This gives me a chance to calm down but than as soon as he gets out he is on my lap trying to get me to be happy with him again and it always works. I can't stay mad at him.

I would be fuming. However, as humans we understand the concept of moving to a new home but our pets don't get it. I'm sure it's an adjustment for him and being left alone is going to cause issues at first. It's just different. NOT that I say he was justified, oh no no. Just giving a different perspective.
Good luck, I am sorry he did that though

I completely understand how angry and upset you must be. I promise, you'll forgive him soon.
