Have You Ever Given a Book a Second Chance?

Have you ever read (or attempted to read) a book, hated it, and then at a later date, re-read it and loved it?

The only book I can remember this happening with for me was The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck. I could not even read it in 10th grade Honors English - I think I read the Cliff Notes .

In college, I had to read it for an Anthropology class and just devoured it, absolutely loved it!

I think it only happened to me once also- The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. If I can't get into a book, I generally dont bother to pick it up again.

I teach English so I am often forced to re-read a book I don't like a thousand times. In my personal life, I don't give a book a second chance
