Moms of 2 (or more): was your second labor shorter?
ok, i'm jumping the gun a little here, but at 22 weeks i'm already nervous.
first pg my labor started very suddenly and was about 6.5 hours from start to finish... but the epi (which i got at 8cm) seemed to slow things down a LOT.
i've heard/read that the first labor is the longest, and that they only get shorter after that.
was this true for you?

Yes. I had pitocin with both labors but from being admitted to delivery:
DS#1 10 hours (walking into the room - baby in arms) DS#2 3 hours
I'm pregnant #3 and can't imagine although some people say their third was their longest.

Re: Moms of 2 or more: did your labor get shorter?
I was induced with both- and was in labor for about the same amount of time. That said, I progressed much more quickly with #2- I zoomed form 5 to 10 cm in under 30 minutes (but it took 6 hours to go from 3-5cm). I pushed her out in like 4 contractions, rather than the near 3 hour ordeal I had with #1.
As my OB said, "#1 greased the track for #2."

this is what i'm afraid of. because first time around i was 3cm before i even had my first contraction (i walked around 3cm, 100% for over a week).
labor started around 3am, by 4:30am i was 5cm.
by 6am i was already at 8cm
then i got the epi... and gave birth at 9:59.
so without the epi things went SO fast.
i'm terrified that i'll do the 5-10cm in 30 minute thing... and just barely make it to the hospital if at all...

I was induced but got pitocin at 11:30am and had the baby at 5:20pm, so just under 6 hours .
With DS#1, I was in labor for almost 22 hours.

Re: Moms of 2 (or more): was your second labor shorter?
All of my labors have been pretty short to begin with...
Caden was the only one that I was induced...but I was close to 5cm at that point any way...
My water was broken and pitocin started at 1:30pm..he was born at 5:02pm..
I went naturally with the twins. My water broke at about 2am (I dont really remember) and I had them at 6:16am & 6:23am...
I went to the hospital when the contractions started getting heavy and that was at 3pm...she was born at 6:43pm...

#1 in labor for over 12 hours then pushed for 3 hours then pushed with a vacuum extraction. #2 I never had the opportunity to get admitted she came that fast.

Re: Moms of 2 (or more): was your second labor shorter?
Can't really say - I never went into labor with my 1st. My water broke and he was born by c/s (b/c he was breech) about 3 hours later.
With my second, I had a v-birth. I went into labor around 2 a.m. and had her about 10 a.m. I pushed for 3 hours though (but this was my first pushing experience for a v-birth).

Definitely true for me.
#1 - 14 hours start to finish #1 - tops 1.5 hours, made it to the hospital with SEVEN minutes to spare.
