Re: Have you heard of nannies drugging/sedating children? Am I being overly suspicious?
I don't think you are being overly suspicious. I would be too!
I'm flabbergasted reading that nannies actually do this. It's sick!

That's not where my thought process would go, but if it would ease your mind I would certainly install a camera. I also suggest you asking the nanny, but of course not accusatory. Just say something like, "I was so impressed the boys were sleeping when we got home, do you have any pointers for me?" and see what she says.

I have a question!? Is the benedryl in the parents home already or do you think theses nannies travel with it? In any case I would flip the eff out! Even when family members watch dd I expect to be asked/told to give any sort of medication (we are not big on giving it out unless need be) I wonder if this is normal chatter/behavior between nannies?

In the case I know of, it wasn't in parents home, the baby was 3m.

Re: Have you heard of nannies drugging/sedating children? Am I being overly suspicious?
I guess anything is possible but my first thought is that sometimes kids behave VERY differently with other people then with their own parents. Kids who give their moms and dads grief can also be an angel with someone else. I remember when I was teaching parents were AMAZED at how differently their child behaved with me all day as opposed to with them. I am thinking that with you they probably know how to push your buttons to get what they want/need whereas with a stranger who they aren't as comfortable with and who has her own way of doing things they ended up being more compliant. KWIM?

DS goes to daycare and naps every day there--I think once or twice he didn't, but every day. At home on weekends, almost never. Maybe he'll fall asleep in the car for 15 minutes, that's it. He also rarely has tantrums there--cries or whines yes, but no tantrums. Needless to say, at home it's a different story. Kids often do behave differently with someone other than their parents.
I would install a nanny cam though. If nothing else, you'll be able to trust her if she isn't drugging them. And for lots of other reasons, you want to see if she's treating your children well, playing with them, not hitting them, etc.
