Have your kids really started to show their true colors yet?
Man, maybe because its wednesday, or they were high from breakfast but alot of my kids were just off the wall today. I have one kid who wasnt given his meds this morning and basically riled up the whole class. It was a bit choatic but managable. during prep I had "zen time" with my 2 directors and just went phew that was nuts. of course not NEARLY as crazy as what i dealt with last year but rather did not expect it this morning.
I managed to get them back after lunch a lot calmer after punishment of no recess but tomorrow I have to start the day with reinforcing those rules and procedures.
Is it january yet?

Unfortunately yes!!! I love those first few days where they're still uncomfortable and don't try anything yet. Already I see how they really are

My last class of the day is 8th graders that I had as 7th graders - they act like it's still last year and that the same behavior will fly. They're not getting the fact that it's a new year and that they have a state assessment to prepare for at the end. So, yeah, their true colors are out there.
