Having a hard time with the nursery, please help.

OK - we painted the nursery friday. I didn't want blue (we are having a boy). SO picked a dark tan/brownish color.

When we went to pick up the paint my DH confesses her really wants blue, so I agreed to change and we painted the room a light blue - almost like a denim color.

This is how I feel about it: Chat Icon

This is the paint color:

We have oak wood floors, so I wanted to get a throw rug, DH wants wall to wall brown carpet...we can't agree.

I dont want brown. I dont know why, I just dont think it is going to look right. I dont really want beige...so my question is does anyone have any flooring ideas or options they can share?

Also - curtains, I need some things to make the room a little more masculine I think.

ETA: I also need bedding for a fullsize bed that will be in the room as well....help!!!! Chat Icon

I agree with not wanting brown for the carpet - the furniture is enough brown - it'll just be too much KWIM??

Plus, why would you want to cover up your hardwood floors - your DH will probably regret in the future.

What about a red area rug (a color from the bedding) - big enough to cover a lot of the floor - but not permanent? You won't have too much green (since your glider is), or brown and it'll add more color to the room - plus it'll be more masculine (which is what you want).

ETA: To answer your question about the other bed... I'd go with a solid light color that is in the crib set.

I think you have a lot to work with in terms of colors and patterns... and whatever you choose to do it will be what you want and will look beautiful! No worries!!!

Good luck!!!

I think that once you have the furniture with bedding & all in the room, you will like the color more.

I would not do a brown rug though & would stick with an area rug. You can pull any color out of the bedding but what if you did a lighter green (not really sage). Whatever color area rug you do, I would get curtains in the same color. You don't want too much color going on in the room bc it will look very busy.

In terms of the other bed, I would pull a solid color out of the bedding & use that. Don't get into patterns though bc it will be way too busy.

This area rug is not too blue. Since it is a different shade, I think it will add contrast plus you are picking up some of the other bedding colors...

i agree. i love the color blue you picked for the paint but i understand it's not what you wanted Chat Icon i think the room will look great.

i personally would go with a dark tan shag carpet. i love carpeting in bedrooms. but again, that's personal preference.

whatever you do it will look great!

I like the rug you picked out. I wouldn't do brown either.

I'm using the same bedding but with green walls and decided to just do a beige remnant piece of carpet b/c I can't decide lol

You could also go with a red carpet with yellows and blues.....that bedding has so many colors to go with.

Someone post about the FLOR carpet tile system on the home board a few months ago. You can customize it to how you want and not be tied to one color bc you can change the tiles when you want. Maybe do a combination of the brown that your DH wants and another color that you like. You can do a variety of patterns.

Here's a sample of a rug kit:

I was just going to post this. I think it's a great idea for you!!!! you can customize it to a look you both can agree on.

I think I have your bedding too...you have so many color options to chose from...I mean, you wall color is denim...what doesn't look good with a nice pair of jeans? Chat Icon Chat Icon
