Having so much trouble breathing
I will be 16 weeks on Tuesday. I have terrible asthma, but it has been under control for years and I take my meds everyday. Oddly enough, last night I started having trouble breathing. Its kind of like I"m having an asthma attack that never goes away. Could it be the pregnancy or could it be my asthma?

Re: Having so much trouble breathing
Sounds to me like it could be a pregnancy related issue. I was in the ER last week for my asthma, cause I also had bronchitis. They gave me a few breathing treatments. Once the dr got wind that I was having a hard time breathing they sent me straight to the ER to check my blood ox level cause they wanna make sure the baby is getting enough oxygen. In your case, already having asthma im sure is not helping. Maybe check with the dr and see if you can use any inhalers. They gave me the albuterol inhaler to take home. It worked for me.

My pulmonary specialist and my OBGYN are aware of my asthma and pregnancy. They have decied to continue my meds....inhaler, advair discus, and singulair pill. I have taken all of my meds, but my regular/fast acting inhaler dosent seem to be doing the trick. This is common for me with my asthma when I get sick, but the strange thing is that I'm not sick and I have never been pregnant before so I don't know if this is asthma stuff or pregnancy stuff. Or both!
I tried to call my doctor but the line has been busy for like 20 minutes!

When you are pregnant your immune system has to "stand back" a bit. It makes sense that your asthma would get worse because your immune system is accepting foreign material(your husbands 50% genetics)

Re: Having so much trouble breathing
My girlfriend just gave birth and has bad asthma. Hers was definitely escalated during the pregnancy. Definitely get it checked out even though it's probably not uncommon.
