You don't need to know gender for baby gear - pack n play (if you even really need one), car seats, bouncy chairs are all available in gender neutral colors.

My Chat Icon will be using the same ones my Chat Icon did 2 years ago!!

Also, like some other posters have said, scan Craig's List!! You don't have to pay full price for these things, especially when you aren't going to use it all that long.

Buy gender neutral clothes now -- there's a lot out there. I sorted through all of my DD's baby clothes and managed to pull out a bunch of gender neutral stuff for DS this time... everyone knew I was having a girl the first time and I still wound up with some gender neutral clothes!

It seems like you post a lot about the sex of the baby. It seems like it is really on your mind and you are a bit nervous about it. If it is REALLY that intense for you, than just find out. It will put your mind at ease and you can prepare. Chat Icon Chat Icon

ITA you should find out. You're driving yourself crazy.

As far as $$$, you probably need a lot less than you think you need... and what you do need, buy at Wal-mart.. sooo much cheaper.

Garage sales, craigs list, coupons at BRU/BBB, sales.

All that will help in finding gender neutral things that will be fine and help you out.

Dont let that determine whether you will find out or not.

A carseat, most are gender neutral, same with strollers and most toys.

Clothes- Im sure you will get some when baby comes and they arent too $$ and you can find plenty on sale- Target, Childrens place or maybe hand me downs.

There are ways to get these things without relying on others and be financially ok with getting them.

I'm in your situation, but reverse...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon . I had/will have one shower, that's it. IMO, I don't find it difficult at all shopping-wise. I don't see how finding out the sex is going to really change things except for the clothing situation...unless you're really just looking for an excuse to find out. Chat Icon

I didn't read through the other responses yet, so I hope I am not repeating too much...

If you truly have nothing from your DSs, you can start shopping now, or start a registry (and perhaps drop hints to co-workers or family and friends Chat Icon ). You don't need a pink bouncy seat, KWIM? As for bedding, I was Team Chat Icon every time, and as a result, got gender neutral crib stuff. Yes, even my third will reuse it. If you truly have your heart set on a girly set, you can buy that after she's born...won't she be in your room for a few weeks/months most likely? As for the other larger things like carseat, etc, someone on here the other day reminded me of the buy/sell/swap thread on Parenting...you could check that out.

As for clothing, of course I know nothing about you or your situation, but if you have a girl after two boys, I'd be really surprised if no one got you anything girly...people go nuts over baby girls! Otherwise, clothing is cheap. Stock up on gender neutral sets--they have some cute things out in Carters/BRU now...packages of pants and onesies, etc. Then check out Kohl's after the baby is born...real cheap and nice stuff. They always have sales going on. Let it be an excuse to stick your DH with the three and go shopping!

Like others have said- the baby gear is neutral and that's really the stuff that you need to worry about getting. We had a crapload of girly clothes for DD when she was born, and she spent the first few weeks just in onesies and PJs- i really dont think it's that big of a deal. Most of the NB, 0-3month stuff is neutral anyway... tans, yellows, greens, etc. You'll be fine for the first few weeks, at least. After that, if you want to get more gender specific stuff, i'm sure you can get away for an hour or so and get a bunch of things.

I don't see it as being a reason to cave in if you're so against finding out, but, if you're just looking for an excuse... it's a weak one, but i guess it works Chat Icon

I would start buying one or two things a week or each paycheck so by the time baby comes it won't seem like such a huge expense.

I mean really inexpensive things, like one pack of bottle nipples or a 3 pack of burp cloths, etc. Things that are less than $10. Cut $10 out of your grocery bill each week and swing by the baby section of the store and put one thing in your cart, even it is a $3 teething ring.

Then you'll have everything you need by the time baby comes and you won't be so stressed about the $$ it would be if you did one big shop at BRU or whatever.

BTW...I find Target to have the best prices on bottles, etc.

I would look on Craigslist for things like high chair, pack n play, exersaucer etc. as you need them. You can get things in excellent condition for a great price from the right sellers.

Re: Having your 3rd child, no baby shower and being team green is hard...

I didnt have a shower with DS and I am not having one now. I know my family will get me stuff but I am not relying on them. Once upon a child is a great store. You just need carseat, stroller, crib. Do you have any friends that can let you use there crib?? I am using a friends crib for 1 year. I did buy a bassinet for the first 4-6 months. I use coupons on everything I buy. I am due the end of the summer and We are team greenChat Icon I have bought some T-shirts and dipes (because we are using cloth) and thats it.

I have nothing from DS because he is alot older. Try not to worry so much. You don't need half the stuff they sell in the stores. Just be a smart shopper, use coupons and go during sales. Clothing you can always buy later after baby comes and in the beginning its just onesis and Pjs.

I was never team Chat Icon, but I did buy all neutral baby items except for clothes. I was able to reuse everything (again, except clothes) for my second child. Buy all of the big items gener neutral. Buy some gender neutral clothing to get you started & then after you give birth, have DH, family, & you when you're up to it go out & finish the wardrobe gender specifically.
