He is testing me today
I have never in all of his 16.5 months wanted bedttime to come so fast.
First - he cries for our entire LoriMarie photoshoot.
Now - he is obsessed with the dogs food and when I take it away he literally whacks me in the face
He just punched me right in the eye.
I quickly threw him into the PNP for a timeout - unfortunately we keep random toys in there and he ended up playing
If the terrible twos are worse than this - I better take stock in a vineyard bc lord knows I will need the wine

He feels perfectly fine. He is stubborn and wants his way all the time.
Now - he is happy as anything running around the house - and being all cutesy - so of course I feel guilty being mad at him.
He literally throws himself onto the ground into a position where I can't pick him up when he knows he's in trouble. THIS he can do....saying Mama he can't
I'm a dead woman - I just know it!

Sounds like he & his girlfriend have been chatting. She pulls the same stuff lately. If she starts having a fit while we're holding her, she'll lunge backwards, arching her back-- you really have to be holding on or she'll fall on the floor
Here's hoping this phase passes quickly

Re: He is testing me today
sorry it's been a rough day Diana...these little guys and gals love to test us DS does it too, when he doesn't get his way, he throws himself to the ground. We just step away and a couple minutes later he is fine, like nothing was wrong and yes, he has tried to hit me a couple times too, i firmly tell him its not nice and to be gentle and again remove myself so he cant get me. He's pretty good about getting over it and coming over to hug/kiss us afterward which def makes you feel bad for getting mad at them

Paige has been testing me lately to. But she is 22 months. All she does is say no and when I take things away from her she screams.

Re: He is testing me today
Well, he's in the crib - and I'm drinking a nice cold beer I didn't think a glass of wine would cut it after the day I had (maybe a case would but not a glass)
And Lori - it was soooo not you - you did the best you could given the circumstances and the mood those two were in today!

Re: He is testing me today
I just got done putting dd against the wall in timeout and it worked. Can you not do the PNP? and believe me she was back and forth during it and finally calmed down.

I have never done a timeout before - and I was so worked up that I just threw him in there -- not realizing that we didn't empty it fully and there were still a few toys hanging around. I am going to empty it completely tonight (it just sits there collecting our crap and is never used) - because I have a feeling that we will have plenty of timeouts coming our way!

For the most part mine doesnt go in timeout either but I am feeling like she needs to do it some just to learn to calm down. She doesnt do an awful lot to warrant a time out but sometimes ya both need a break. At least they get to relax for a lil bit. its not as hard as you may think. I wouldnt even continue with the PNP I would just do an empty wall...its easier.

There is only one empty wall/corner in my house and he likes to play there all the time - that's why I was thinking the PNP.
Ugh - I have a timeout chair also but I think he's too young for it.

Re: He is testing me today
My best advice is to just ignore him when he acts like that, especially at home. Make sure he can't get hurt and tell him that you can't play with him when he acts like that and it makes you sad, then just walk away and ignore him. He will get the picture. I do notice that DD is a lot more clingy lately and breaks down so easily but I ignore it and in a few minutes it passes. DS is going through his impossible 3's early and well this is an interesting phase.

Re: He is testing me today
There HAD to be something in the air today! Bryan played, whined, threw a toy or two then calmed down when I put on Max & Ruby. Ok. Good. Fine... We went to dinner with a lot of my family members. He kept pushing the chair away from the table. So, he did it again, and yes i was THAT mom that left him away from the table till he calmed down. Finally, brought him back to the table, he ate, drank his milk, but OMGosh once dinner was done, so was he..kicking, arms going, tears, whining.... We came home, I washed him up and put him right to bed. I tomorrow is a better day.

Re: He is testing me today
We all have a bad day every now and then. This is a touch age and as he can express more through word the hitting should calm down.
