He keeps getting little colds... normal?
Is this "normal"? He's at his babysitter once a week with other kids, so I guess he's getting it there? But I read that babies get about 6 colds in the first six years. Do you think there's any reason for concern that this is his third "cold" in 2 months?
His nose runs like crazy, he wakes up crying in the night, he usually has an ear infection (double) and he's all congested. I've been making what seems like weekly visits to the doctor. We do amoxycillin and the nebulizer, and the symptoms go away, but then come back. My poor guy is miserable through all this - but he's such a trooper!
Do you think I should take him to the doctor AGAIN? They have office hours tomorrow and Monday. We are going away on Saturday... I REALLY want him better by then!

Could he be suffering from seasonal allergies leading to the ear infection? My dd had allergies from a few months old.

My son had the same thing... I kept bringing him to the dr. One day I finally had enough and gave him Benadryl. It helped. Then I started to give him Claritin. And it nipped all the "colds" in the butt!!!

I'm not sure where you heard the 6 colds in 6 months statistic. Kids in daycare usually have a runny nose all winter long! It could be allergies, but the ear infections would make me think not. I'll tell you this, my DS had a ton of ear infections his first year. He is a super healthy almost 3 year old now who rarely gets sick. I know it's hard living through it so  . It sounds like you're doing all the right things so just keep at it!

Only 6 colds in the first 6 years? Where did you read that? Maybe that's true for kids who are never around other kids. DS is in daycare and gets a cold and/or cough constantly. He's pretty healthy during the warmer months and doesn't usually get anything more serious than a cold or cough, but it still sucks that he gets sick so often. I was hoping it would get a little better now that he's older, but he tends to come down with something at least every month during the cooler weather.
Do you go for a re-check when he has an ear infection? Maybe the antibiotics aren't fully clearing it up. The colds wouldn't concern me, but if he's getting frequent ear infections, your doctor may eventually talk to you about tubes. Hope he feels better soon.
