He skipped a grade!
I am so proud of our guy. He's 3 1/2 and we just moved to another city a couple months ago. He's born in January and the cutoff here is October so he was slotted to start kindergarten in 2 years.
We were really worried about this since he was really bored in his last school and they would not put him in preschool because of his age. To the point where he was acting out. I mentioned this to the new school here before we moved. I just realized the director put him in Pre-K! He met him almost a year ago so he knows him. I didn't know until now (a month later) because it's still called Preschool but it is "PSE." Apparently preschool E is pre-K!
So if he does ok this year (and for the past month he's been doing great), he's off to Kindergarten a year early! Now I understand why he's so short! I thought it was just a regional difference haaha. And why he's been spelling words this past week...So proud... I'm just a little worried since he's short even for his age how he'll do. So far so good. He charms people to make up for his short stature
He loves the new school...when he was sick yesterday and we told him he had to stay home he cried!

I would just double check with the school district. They may still say he has to wait.

I agree about possibly having to wait. School districts generally are not led by preschools.
For having such a smart boy!

Re: He skipped a grade!
I was asking around here and since this school has a private K as well, it is possible he might go to K next year if they feel he's up to it. There is one other child in the same boat. This city (not in NY) has a bad public school system so private schools are the norm around here...
