He wants to eat every hour now
My DS all of a sudden wants to eat every hour (from his previous 3 hour feeding schedule), but when I get him to latch he only draws milk for about 10 minutes then nods off. Is he even getting the hind milk in that short of a time?
TIA

Yup, welcome to the unpredictable world of growth spurts.
Happy staying awake!
eta...when I pumped the foremilk only lasted for 1/2 minutes, after that it was hindmilk.

Re: He wants to eat every hour now
One ped told me to flick his foot to keep him awake.
My NEXT pediatrician explained that he will get the hind milk at the next feeding so not to worry.
I used to undress them a bit (make them a little cold to wake them up) or talk to them while they were nursing.
Otherwise...I would feed them every hour all day long.
Hang in there. Once their stomachs grow a bit, you'll get more of a break.

Isn't it the opposite? Too much foremilk? I had an oversupply and went through that whole thing, poor baby used to drown in foremilk and had poops to go with it.
OP-Prob def a growth spurt and BM is easily digested comparitively to formula, I was looking through my feeding diary the other day and there were lots of time in the beginning DD was on the boob for 10 mins and i fed her again an hour to hour and 1/2 later.
It gets better, hang in there

Re: He wants to eat every hour now
As the other posters said, it definitely sounds like a growth spurt. I am just coming to the end of one myself. At about 5-1/2 wks, I am finally starting to see longer periods between feedings.
My DS usually only eats for 10 minutes and he's been gaining extremely well. He just $uck$ really hard so he gets what he needs in a short period of time.
