Headache Question?
Hi all - not a frequent poster but I am on here often...just wanted to some advice
So about a week ago i was out with my DC at the Library and all of a sudden my vision in my left eye and ear became very sensitive to light and sound for a couple of minutes. It’s hard to explain….but then it was followed by a nasty headache behind that eye and side.
It happened again last night right after I was suddenly woken up by my DC crying...i was in a deep sleep and thought something had happened when I heard her and immediately jumped up and ran into her room (of course she was fine - just me being paranoid) so when I get back into bed this thing happened again and this morning it still hurts.
I checked on line and all signs points to migraines or cluster headaches...but I just wanted to see if anyone else has a similar thing and if you think i should go to the DR now or wait to go to see if it happens again.
Thanks so much for listening, I appreciate any feedback.

Re: Headache Question?
Sounds like a migraine to me. I would definitely go to the dr to get checked out. for me, my migraines are almost always stress induced. i ward them off by drinking lots of water (at least 3L a day), and exercising.
GL! They are the pits and totally debilitating.

Re: Headache Question?
I would schedule a Dr's appt. It's better to be safe than sorry. I would also start to keep a food diary and write down when you get your headaches, how long they last, and where they are located. The food diary might help to determine if you are eating something that is triggering the headache.
Good luck!

Re: Headache Question?
thanks! I am going to make an appt today with the DR. I am just nervous that it is going to be something else...but that is what I do - i stress over everything which is prob why i am getting them in the first place

Re: Headache Question?
That's definitely a migraine with aura. I get them too. The aura lasts for about 20 minutes with me and it's horribly scary. I lose partial vision in one eye, or I see flashing lights or zigzags or spots. It has happened a few times while driving and I had to pull over... it's very dangerous if you driving.
Then after my vision returns I get the pounding headache on the opposite side- with nausea, vomitting, etc
I find that taking a daily supplment of magnesium and the sleep supplement Melatonin every night has helped me reduce the frequency incredibly (studies have found that migraine sufferers have low magnesium and melatonin levels) I also have a night guard for my teeth since I am big teeth clencher and grinder and that has also been linked.
There are prescription meds you can take when you feel it coming on- but some of the side effects (heart issues etc) of those meds are way too scary to me.
I usually take 4 advil the minute I feel it coming on and a dramamine for the naseua and just lie down until it passes.
It's horrible and life interrupting for sure...
Hope you get to the bottom of it!

Re: Headache Question?
It's almost like a lightening headache.. They come on so quick and they are so painful.. My dr gave my Fiorcet to take when they get really bad.
