Healthy-ish choices at Olive Garden?

We're going there after work today, and I'm wondering what I can get other than soup, salad and breadsticks. Or is this a lost cause?

I think on the menu they have a little symbol denoting a 'low fat' meal... maybe you could just ask for a lunch sized portion, instead of a regular portion so you won't be temped to overeat?

Oh cool, I haven't been there in years. I'll look for the low fat meals. Thanks!

Check out dietfacts.com. They have some of the calories for some of their entrees. Link here:
Olive Garden Entree Calories

I would ask them to bring the dressing out on the side for my salad and order my favorite entree and only eat half.

I would stay far far away from the breadsticks. They have 140 calories each.

I got the chicken marsala, which came with THREE chicken breasts. I ate one and took two home Chat Icon

Great job! When you start dieting and actually see what a 'real' portion is, it's amazing what they give you to eat....

DH and I will sometimes will work an Outback meal into our diet. It's a lot easier there, since they usually have different weights of steaks on the menu, but still, their smallest steak is double what a normal portion is. We usually order one meal, get an extra side of veggies, extra salad and split the steak.. Chat Icon

Yeah it's crazy. I looked up some meals online and they were like 1300 calories. I mean that is a WHOLE day's work for some women, right?
