Healthy lunch ideas...
Before being pregnant I ate alot of 100 calorie type things, and I think that continuing it during pregnancy is what is leading to my low blood sugar/low blood pressure...
SOOOOOO..... Im headed food shopping today and need some healthy lunch ideas.

Re: Healthy lunch ideas...
If you ate ok besides snacking on those 100 calorie packs-- just swap those out for pieces of fruit. That will help get some additional nutrition in-- and depending on the serving size, the calories are comparable.

Re: Healthy lunch ideas...
Yesterday, I went to the Grocery stores and bought some veggie burgers. I have tried a few but the one I bought yesterday was delicious!
The brand is Garden Burger and it was the Blackbean Chipotle burgers. I bought Sandwich thins by Arnold Select as the bun. I topped it with tomatoe, cheese and avocado and it was soooo good!
You can also use a whole wheat wrap or pita instead. If you use the wrap, it is going to taste like a burrito.
Both very High in Fiber.

Ahh, ok.
I approach every meal the same way. Make sure you have a protein, a carb and a veggie. Then with snacks-- it can be fruit or a yogurt, etc.
As a vegetarian-- I eat a lot of veggie burger type things, nuts and beans to ensure that I am getting my protein. I also eat a lot of soup-- a good healthy soup can be very nutritious. Also when portioned out-- these a fairly low in calories and have a lot of protein and fiber-- so, it's great also for digestion which we all know needs to be, er, aided in pregnancy.
I think as long as items are being freshly prepared and you are watching portions-- you are in good shape!

I LOVE soup.... but again find myself eating those low cal soups... What kinds do you buy/make???
Im really not a "snacker" I'm more of a fruit person myself. I find myself eating ALOT of apples, grapes, and citrus fruits.
I did WW previously to getting pregnant, so I'm very cautious with my portions, but I struggle with lunch (always did)
I usually find myself eating fruit and a fiber 1 bar or yogurt for breakfast.
Dinner is usually a meat/chicken, veggie and potato or pasta.

I'm addicted to GardenBurger...I eat these for dinner with vegetable soup (I get the Select Harvest brand). The great part about the veggie burger is that it's a great source of Omega 3!
For lunch, I have PB&J...natural peanut butter, Polaner All Fruit and I always have a pear with that, and carrots/cut up red pepper and some hummus to dip it in. I'm not a big variety person, I'm too lazy.

I think PB&Js on whole wheat is a good lunch, as well as a couple of pieces of organic cheese and hummus on wheat. Veggie burgers are great too. On the side, have some carrot or celery sticks, and a piece of fruit.
I also tend to eat bars and things like that as snacks-- I keep them on hand and always have one in my bag for a snack. Lara bars are great and very filling-- they come in a ton of flavors. I also love Kashi granola bars-- like 150 calories and 5 grams of fiber and 6 or so grams of protein. Just check the ingrediants and make sure it's good stuff in there-- no chemicals and no artificial sweetners.
I also like YoMommy yogurt or Greek yogurt-- you can have this for a light lunch-- along with some wheat toast and fruit.
As for soups-- I always eat Amy's Organic and Trader Joes has great ones that come in a resealable box.

I like PB & J on potato bread and a yogurt with some homemade granola. Maybe I'll throw in a fruit like grapes, apples, or plums.

You should try organic, natural PB-- they have some at Trader Joe's. There is a lot of sugar in the regular brands like Skippy & Jiff.
YoMommy is the same brand as the YoBaby stuff-- I used to buy it all the time, and now I can't find it at the store-- so I am wondering what happened to it.
TJ's has great stuff-- just read the labels and make sure all the ingredients are good, and the nutritional content is worth it!
Egg white omlettes are also great for lunch-- when at home of course.

I used to buy some all natural brand from the supermarket- but I hated that I had to keep it cold, and it would get so oily on top. Are all natural ones like that?

yes-- you just have to stir it, and once you put it in the fridge after you initially open it, it's gone.
I have the TJ Organic Natural Crunchy without Salt. It's pretty good-- and better than other natural PB's I have tried.

yeah it's kinda gross, but I look at it this way-- it's natural for the oil to separate from the rest of it.
And what they do to make it unnatural with the more commonplace brands-- who knows with all that stuff. It just feels healthier to me.

The stirring definitely takes practice, but if I can do it, anyone can!
In addition to the natural peanut butter, organic almond butter is also very good.
