Heart Worm
How often do you give your dog heart worm medication? The vet told us to give it to her every month. This doesn't sound right because heart worm is more prominent during the summer months. On the internet it said may through october?? What do you do?

I know some people don't give heartworm meds in winter but I do. I don't take the chance. Brinkley's already had roundworm, that was in November/December.

We do it monthly. We also use Sentinel because it tackles Heartworm and fleas in one!

really?!? she is on sentinel! I thought it was only for fleas and ticks!!

I know someone who stopped using it during the winter and the dog got heartworm! So it is really advisable to use it year round.

I had my dog for almost 14 years. I only gave him the heartworm meds from around April-November. Some people give it all year though.
