155 sounds like it is on the high end, that usually means a girl

I don't think that's high for 8 wks. At 8wks our baby's was 170+ - now it's usually 140+

I had to put him down. He is no longer suffering though so that makes me feel better.

Re: Heartbeat and gender
They all are pretty high until around 13 weeks. Thats when you can start guessing based on the HB.

Re: Heartbeat and gender
Both girls were between high 150's and 170's. With that being said, when I had a fetal echocardiagram done I spoke to the cardiologist and she said the whole theory is BS and that there are so many variables that affect the heartrate including, gestational age, if the baby is sleeping, certain stages of development, etc.

He said it's a wives tale; no scientific proof stating otherwise.

Re: Heartbeat and gender
I am having a and at 8w, mine was around 146.
FYI - it was 148 at the 12w Ultrasceen and about 130 at the 20w Level II. My OB listened to the heartbeat a couple of hours ago today and said the base heartbeat is 130, but it is about 145 whenever DS gives a good kick.

Re: Heartbeat and gender
Mine was 165 at 8 weeks and we are having a . I don't know if his heartbeat had anything to do with the gingerale I was living on during my first trimester. Every check up after that he has been around 145-149.
BTW, I remember reading somewhere that heartbeats and sex prediction is in the second trimester. If that is true then his heartbeat falls in where boys are supposed to be. But who knows!
Glad your checkup went well!
