Heartburn and Funky Taste In Mouth
Hi Ladies
Im 8 weeks in and it seems that anything i eat is giving me heartburn. Esp spicy foods.
Also, sorry for the TMI, but I have terrible gas pains after EVERY meal and often what seems like ALL day.
Is it normal to have a TON of heartburn and gas this early?
It also seems that everything I eat does not taste how it did before I found out was a prengnant. I dont have that metal taste in my mouth, but everything just tastes a little bland.
Thanks Ladies!
Amanda

Re: Heartburn and Funky Taste In Mouth
at about 6 or 7 weeks i started with the heartburn/reflux. it got so bad at nite too that i couldnt keep dinner down.
and everything left a FOUL taste in my mouth..especially any sort of cake/cookie. Everything tasted funny.
im on prevacid for the reflux b/c nothing was working. and by 16-17 weeks it got better and the foul aftertastes were much less.
i was chewing gum constantly, which oddly enough helped the queeziness.

Re: Heartburn and Funky Taste In Mouth
The BEST advice I got on this site was to chew peppermint gum. 2 years later, I still chew ONLY peppermint gum and anytime my tummy is acting up, I pop a piece in before any other treatments .
My doctor also told me to eliminate: cheese/dairy, spicy/italian/mexican, greasy/fried foods and basically anything with flavor. It was a boring existence, but it definitely worked! There was a time that if I ate a slice of pizza, by the time I finished the last bite, it came back up. Cutting these things out and the gum truly helped.

Thank you for the advice ladies!
Staying away from all of those foods is going to be tough for me, but well worth it in the long run!
I will def. try the gum!
:) Happy and Healthy 9 months to us all!
