heat not working
our heat on our first floor is not working. we turned it on on Sunday and it worked perfectly for a few days but all of a suddent it stopped working.
we have a separate thermostat for our upstairs (where our bedrooms are) and the heat is working fine up there. DH changed the thermostat last night on the first floor thinking that was problem, but its still not working.
any ideas of what could be wrong or how we have to fix it? it's freezing in here!!

Re: heat not working
Where do you live and what type of system do you have? Oil with baseboard heat, gas? Do you have a contract with the fuel supplier? We have a contract with Petro and we call them if the heat's not working. Our plumber is also a heating and cooling specialist (he replaced our boiler and added a second heating zone for us).
Best option for service probably depends on several variables. I'd start by contacting the company that supplies the fuel for your system, or a plumber. If you're in Suffolk and need a recommendation for a plumber send me FM.

Re: heat not working
do you have radiators? You may have to bleed the air out of them. When we bought our house the inspector told us that would happen approx every 4 years and the reason you would know is you would have no heat. I would call a plumbing and heating guy...
