heat in one half of the house not working
We just moved into our new home a few weeks ago, but we've just noticed that 1/2 of the house is always cold. We turned the heat up to 68 degrees tonight and the LR/DR/Kitchen all got nice and toasty. The other side of the house with BRs/Bath...all the baseboards are stone cold.
What do we do? Call the Oil company that we have a service contract with? A plumber?
Sorry I sound so clueless...but I've lived in an apartment for so long, I never had to worry about these things!
TIA

Do you have two zones for heating? It just might be a case where the damper isn't open to send the heat to the other rooms.

You may need to let the pipes bleed out a bit. Turn up your heat and then go over to where the cold baseboards out and with a bucket, let some of the water out. It may just be clogged up over there and not circulating the water properly. If your DH cannot do this, then call up a plumber.

This is what I was going to suggest. There could be air in the pipes.

Re: heat in one half of the house not working
Something similar happened to me. My entire second floor zone had no heat.
Turned out my pipes upstairs froze. $1600 plumber bill later I had heat again.
You probably don't have frozen pipes since it hasn't been cold enough out (this happened to me when we had those endless 17degree nights). But you should still get a plumber in there to make sure.

if you have oil heat- and bought a service contract- call your company-
we had our oil company fix ours since we have a contract with them... our radiators are self bleeding but the last owners had closed them instead of leaving them partly open
