Re: Hello all, kindergarten childcare question
Wow, that sucks that he didn't get into aftercare, I don't know what I would do in that situation.
I would maybe see if you can have another parent do the morning, what time does school start? Work something out with them
As for the sitter in the afternoon, I think that it is going to cost you a lot. Probably at least $200 a week. Which I'm sure is ridiculous. I mean,I think it would cost at least $10/hr and then for 4 hours a day is $40/day. Plus you run the risk of someone getting sick, or what have you...
Is there a waitlist for aftercare? I feel so bad for you.
ETA: I would use your mom for one of them, either the morning or the afternoon

Re: Hello all, kindergarten childcare question
That's early to get closed out of aftercare! I feel bad for the people that move into the neighborhood in the summer time.
I was quoted 12-15 per hour for in-house babysitting...

Thank you. It's so much less expensive for the before after programs then someone in house. We will use grandma til a spot becomes available

Re: Hello all, kindergarten childcare question
what about an in-home daycare in your school district so the bus could pick him up there in the morning and drop him there after school? presumably the daycare provider would have other ages there all day, so the gap in time between morning care and after care isn't an issue.
