Risotto comes up a lot on Hell's Kitchen. What is it?

From Wikipedia

Risotto is a traditional Italian dish made with a suitable variety of rice such as Arborio, Carnaroli or Vialone Nano. It is one of the most common ways of cooking rice in Italy. It originated in North Italy, specifically Eastern Piedmont, Western Lombardy, and Veneto (where the Vialone Nano comes from) where rice paddies are abundant. It is one of the pillars of Milanese cuisine.

When risotto is cooked, the rice is first cooked briefly in butter or olive oil until evenly coated and the rice starts to turn translucent, before broth is added, one ladle at a time. There are other similar dishes, but they should not be called "risotto" if the rice is not toasted.

Recipes include "Risotto alla Milanese," made with chicken or beef stock and saffron, which is traditionally served with osso buco (a stew made from veal bones), and "Risotto al Barolo," made with red wine, but thousands of variations exist, both with vegetables and meat, as well as risottos made with various other wines, cheeses, or even fruits. "Risotto al nero di seppia" is a specialty of the Veneto region, made with cuttlefish that have been cooked with their ink-sacs intact.

Risotto has been featured as one of the most commonly ordered (and botched) appetizers on all three seasons of the reality TV show Hell's Kitchen.

Bonnie the past few weeks has been on point...i think the show kinda makes her seem ditzy...I rather see Rock and Jenn but she messed up tonight...oh well. This season stinks compared to last.

ITA Bonnie has been on point. That had to be a very hard decision for Chef last night.

Last night when Jen was leaving Bonnie hugged her and asked her will you cook on my team? I hope she does take her to her team.

Next Moday is going to be very exciting.

My friend got me into Hell's Kitchen. I watch it but I think I'm more of a Top Chef kind of girl. Do you double dip in your cooking reality shows? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Currently, we are watching Hell's Kitchen, Next Food Network Star, and Top Chef.... man, that gets confusing when DW and I try and discuss which chefs we like... Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think Jen being kicked off was total crap. While Bonnie may have a good palate I don't think she has the ability to run a rest -runt. I have to say that I think Rock will win. I don't like him and think he is way too stuck up. I didn't like too many of the Chef's this season. I think Aaron was hilarious though.

Chef always picks a pretty girl for the finale and it PISSES me off Chat Icon Bonnie the spoiled "personal chef" should NOT be there. A fair competition would have been Rock and Jenn.

ITA. I don't think Bonnie would be a good leader and she was too wimpy calling out orders and making decisions. In the past she just seemed like she cannot be relied on to do little things like checking the food that was delivered, etc. Jen seemed more with it and able to handle the pressure. Bonnie also cries too much.

I totally agree. My wife and I were discussing last season and the hot chick that had no right to be in the finals. It was like he had something for Virginia last season. I don't get it. I think Rock will easily beat Bonnie. If it were Jenn vs Rock I couldn't say who would win.
