Help - Furniture Store issue

I’ll try to make this as short as possible, but we are going tonight, and I want to see if I have any recourse.

Went to a furniture store, bought a new mattress. Didn't like it, returned it within the allowed time frame. Bought a way more expensive one. After a few months, turns out the new mattress is defective (Tempur-Pedic firm, but it is really saggy). Their tech came by this weekend and confirmed.

Apparently, the store policy is that we can get another mattress of equal or greater value (just have to pay the difference) or get a less expensive one and they will give the difference in store credit.

I think this is bull, but not sure if I'm overreacting. I don’t really want store credit because I don’t want any other pieces of furniture from them. We bought furniture from there last year and in one year must have had them over 5-6 times (through their protection plan). The furniture just started peeling, chipping. Not one of the claims was from our mishandling or being rough on the furniture.

And, we were planning on getting a less expensive mattress and now feel like we are stuck because we are going to be paying for this more expensive, defective mattress one way or another.

I just feel like we are being taken, but like I said – I may just be overreacting because I have a bad taste in my mouth for them anyway.

No matter how much it sucks and how I annoyed I would be too, I think what they are offering is fair!

At least they are not telling you, you have to get the same exact mattress and they are letting you change it to whatever you want.

I would just use the store credit for mattress protectors (assuming they carry them), decorative pillows or some thing along those lines.

Thanks so much for replying. You're right and I've calmed down a bit since I wrote that out.
Thanks for the suggestions - I could definitely use some sheets for the mattress.
