Help - What Color? - Updated with Before Pics
Our bathroom is almost complete...need to paint moulding and some other little things and put up the hardware.
I'm stumped on what color bath mat to get. I'm thinking I want a striped shower curtain (something with the blue from the walls in it)...but I haven't found THE curtain. Would you match the rug to the curtain? (I'm not really a matchy-matchy person) Or would you go with white? (I got one white mat and it made the floor look dirty - the white's were totaly different) Or would you go with black?
Help! (thanks!)
Edited to add: For sh!ts & giggles I thought I'd post some BEFORE shots of this bathroom

Re: Help - What Color?
I would probably try and match the curtain to the mat or get a mat the color of the walls (or close to it)
I don't like white rugs in the bathroom. They always look dirty.

Re: Help - What Color?
First - I want to say that I LOVE it!!!
For the rug - I think I might just go with basic white....
As for a shower curtain - i had similar problems in my blue bathroom. Ultimately I went with this one from restoration hardware in "Sky":
Shower Curtain
They had a matching mat that i wanted to get but it's been out of stock for a while now. However - the blue in my bathroom is not exactly the same as yours....

Re: Help - What Color?
For now I would get white, but when you pick out your striped curtain I would try to compliement it with a solid color (like if there is a green in the stripes, a green rug ...)

Re: Help - What Color?
Wow - Thanks everyone!
Lu, I've been eyeing that curtain and I think the blue would go perfectly. It's hard to tell what color the room is based on the pictures - it changes color depending on what angle you look at it. But it definitely has aqua undertones.

Interesting. Our bath towels are a sage green and I'm not sure I love them together. I think the towels have too much of a grey undertone in them...but I like the idea and have toyed around with it, I just wonder if there would be too much going on in there? (Even though the bathroom is basicaly white & blue with some chrome and a splash of balck in the floor )

Re: Help - What Color?
I really like that shower curtain - there are like 4 different blues in my bathroom - and they all look good together somehow, so that curtain blends in somehow.... It's nice and plain... I am in love with restoration hardware - we even painted our bedroom the same color as the walls in the store

Re: Help - What Color?
I love that store too - that and Anthropologie *drool* I was obsessed with the Silver Sage color they have but couldn't convince DH to go for it. In the end, I'm glad I was able to convince him to go with the Tranquil Blue from BM
What's making it hard is I have a vision of the curtain I want and I feel like I've seen it online somewhere...I just can't find it. Ugh.
edited for spelling

I can't put into words the green I am thinking of ... but you usually see it complimentary to blues .. - kind of like sage, but not "dark" ... it's a bright sage green, hard to decribe but it's in my head ... which helps you not at all! :)

Re: Help - What Color?
Silver sage is the color we painted the bedroom - i had my painter match BM paint to that color. Our master bath has silver sage towels and matts. I think i am going to get the white satin stitch bedding in silver sage. I think i have a problem..........
Your bathroom looks very restoration hardware though!!! And I love that color too! It looks great.

Re: Help - What Color?
colleen i love your bathroom!!! i love the tile too!
that blue you chose is a wonderful color!!
why not get a simple white shower curtain and a striped bath mat to match the wall and the curtain
target has a TON of coordinating things- im sure something will catch your eye
here are a few http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=in_de_detail-buybox-with-variations/601-9109970-4166506?%5Fencoding=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000BQ0D0A

Re: Help - What Color?
White or a color to match the shower curtain. My DH used to have black rugs in his bathroom at his parents house and they always looked dirty! (white lint, pieces of toilet paper, etc.)

Thanks everyone for the compliments...and thanks Melissa for reminding me about Target! I found a couple of Thomas O'Brien items that look fabulous online...will have to hit it tomorrow

Re: Help - What Color?
What about a black mat? To pick up the black in your floor tiles. Brown is very popular with that color blue now but since you have the black & white floor, I think a black mat would be the best contrast. With a floor like yours, I would keep the mat simple so a solid color is best IMO

That's what I'm thinking too. Thanks for the input! I like the idea of white...but there are so many white's in this bathroom and I'm afraid it will look dingy in a week
Pottery Barn has some nice mats...I'll have to bring my color swatch and go shopping LOL

I'm going to hit Target tonight...and then we'll hit Pottery Barn this weekend and see what kind of goodies we can come home with
I think a white mat would go best...and I'm eyeing some curtains at Target. Can't wait to finish this room already!!!

Re: Help - What Color? - Updated with Before Pics
Actually, I see alot of wallpapered ceilings in very high end designer houses. It all depends on the style, and the entire room.
I love your wall color. you can try a cotton material from a fabric store. try the fabric mill. then use the plastic one underneath. that way you are more likely to find something. Of course there will be some sewing involved. forget it, I do things the hard way!
