You should have a lot of hope! They are not supposed to tell you the test is 'positive '. It's a screening and they should have explained that you have an elevated risk for down syndrome- not that your baby has it.
That could very well mean that you have a 1 in 250 chance or something along those lines. Which means 249 in 250 chance of not having it. Try to relax and see what the next test says.

Re: HELP! Any False Pos for Downs proven by a CVS
Thanks for your response . The actual print out from Materniti21 says Positive for Trisomy 21. I did the CVS and am waiting and searching for a positive story. Most of the false positive stories I have read are usually with the 18 and 13 . Haven’t seen much on the 21.

Keep in mind that non-invasive tests are also non-definitive. They are screenings, not diagnostic tests, there is no positive or negative, only increased risk.

I didn't do the Maternity21 tests, but whatever screening they do - cant think of the name - showed increased risk for Down's, and the next screening was normal. Hang in there, mama.

Re: HELP! Any False Pos for Downs proven by a CVS
Thank you for your response ! So you did a blood screen that showed risk and then you did another test ? Something more invasive to show the screen was wrong ?

Yes! I have a friend whose blood screening showed very high likelihood of downs, did the cvs which was negative, and baby girl was born healthy!
I didn’t have positive results on my maternit21, but our 20 week anatomy scan had multiple markers, we did an amnio which was negative, and baby boy was born healthy!
With all these new tests, there’s a whole level of anxiety and false positives AND negatives. There’s no way to know 100% without doing the actual diagnostic testing, so you made a good choice in getting the CVS. The waiting for the results is pure torture. Hang in there mama!

Re: HELP! Any False Pos for Downs proven by a CVS
Thank you so much for your response !!!! I have just been searching and searching for hope . Most things I read or responses I get are just what others have read so I wanted to hear from real peoples experiences. I have had a loss at 23 weeks , did a year of IVF with no luck and this one happened to be a miracle so to get this news was devastating . The GC and Dr really don’t give much hope . I am 12 weeks today and can’t even be excited . Hoping to have the FISH results Monday. I have never wanted a weekend over so badly :(

Im so sorry to hear that.
Check out Brittany's Baskets of Hope, it's a wonderful organization run by a local woman with DS. You can also look it up on fb.

First, congratulations! You’re having a baby!
Second, there are so many support groups and resources available. They will be able to give you a wealth of information and help you prep.
We have multiple family friends who have children with downs. They are just as (if not more) wonderful, happy and beautiful as any child without downs.
I wish you lots of luck and happiness.

I am so sorry- but please know that while this isn't how you imagined things would turn out, everything will be ok.
My brother has DS and he is the most vivacious, hysterical and most of all SMART young man that I know. He has a heart of pure gold and brightens up everyone's day that he meets.
There are several resources to help your child and your family- check out ACDS- Planview, my brother was enrolled from 6 months- 5 years at this program, and met all of his milestones.
He is currently 30 years old and is enrolled in a life based program through Maryhaven Center of Hope that teaches him and his peers about money management, cooking skills, computer science and independent living.
I hope you find peace with this and wish you a happy and healthy rest of your pregnancy.

I know this is not how you envisioned things. but please know that you can and will have a very very happy life.
I know several people with children with DS. The oldest child of which started HS this year. He plays sports through a special league and has interests like any typical child, LOVES Star Wars. He is wickedly funny and frankly, I adore being around him bc he is always so happy and makes me laugh my ass off. His parents are good friends of ours and they are just as busy doing typical "teen stuff" with him as they are with his brother and sister. Running to sports practices and games, school events, taking him to hang out with friends.......it's going to be OK!!

Congratulations! Everything will be ok. Babies with Down's syndrome may face some challenges but they are as beautiful, loveable, wonderful, and worthwhile as any other baby. Check out the blog/Instagram "nothingdownaboutit"

Yes.
I was thinking of her. I feel like she could be grappling with some seriously difficult decisions right now and maybe being on here isn’t the most helpful thing?
I wish her well and hope she finds peace with whatever happens.
