HELP! Anyone know a GREAT Structural Engineer?

Hello!

My fiance and I are about to purchase a new home. We are in love with a 1978 colonial BUT is has 3 cracks in the basement concrete foundadtion walls. The walls are painted so its hard to see if there is water damage. They also have rug on the ground. We figure it would be our best bet to hire a structional engineer who writes up inspection reports then just get any old inspector.

Can anyone recommend someone who isn't a "friend" or "relative"... maybe someone they had a really good experience with after they had an issue? We really can't afford to pay for much repair after finding this house is a lemon.

So... please reccomend your structional engineers....

What town are you in?

What did your home inspector have to say about it?

Are the cracks in the wall vertical or horizontal?

Does the basement smell damp?

Anyway, tell me what town you're in and i'll try to find you someone reputable.

what do you mean, you will try to find someone? do you work for a service? the house is it setauket, ny
no it does not smell damp but there were dehumidifiers running.

No, I don't work for a service. I am a Realtor but didn't say so because I didn't repond to get business-just trying to help out...
