Help! Beta question ** Updated**

This might sound ridiculous. I had an FET done on 2/6. I had my beta checked early on 7dp5dt. It came back at 34 which is on the lower side but my doctor said it is still 2 days early and it is a frozen transfer (he said something along the lines that it can be slower). I have been testing daily and really don't see a progression with the FRER. The lines seem to remain the same color (pics in album) (lines are somewhat darker now vs. when I tested). The digital test also came back positive. I have to wait till Tuesday for beta 2, which he wants to quadruple. I guess my question is should I be concerned this is a chemical? Has anyone had a similar experience with a positive outcome? I have been through 3 other transfers and never had a positive test so I am just concerned. Thanks in advance.

***Beta rose to 231 (11dp5dt), which is higher then we hoped for. My RE wants me to go in for a 3rd beta tomorrow because we tested early. I'm still afraid to get excited. Thanks everyone for your help. I pray that this is it.

Help! Beta question

Try to relax, I know easier said than done. The initial number isn't as important as how it rises. Tuesday will give you more info and hopefully peace of mind. As for the lines, I had lines get darker and lighter over time. The individual tests can have more dye, time of day, concentration of urine, etc. I wouldn't read into the lines.

Re: Help! Beta question

Like I was told just 13 weeks ago, the numbers have to start somewhere. Don't worry as much about the first number you want to see the second number rise. I did a fresh cycle 13 weeks ago, at 12dp3dt my beta was 24.7. I thought for sure a chemical, I couldn't even believe it came back positive. I had 3 betas and each time they trippled. I'm now almost 14 weeks along. Stay positive!!

Help! Beta question

I started out with a beta of about 40 something with my DD....and I swore it was another chemical.

When I did have chemicals the line on the FRER would get lighter and lighter...doesn't seem like that is the case for you so YAY!

Help! Beta question

2 days after you my beta was in the 50s with a fresh transfer so I think you are okay for now. That Ivf finally resulted in my DS. It really matters if it doubles. I didn't test at home. I had a chemicals with a fresh and frozen cycle and both betas were under 10. Fingers crossed for doubling.

Thanks so much everyone for your help. I feel better after reading all of your responses. It has taken so long to see that second line and the word "pregnant" on a test. I am just driving myself crazy. Going to lay off the tests for nowChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Help! Beta question

At 9dp5dt my beta was 61 and my second beta 48 hours later was 209. Currently 13 weeks pregnant. Since you tested 2 days sooner than most REs test you 34 is an acceptable starting point. This is the reason why REs don't like testing betas early because if the first number is low patients panic. As long as your beta doubles in your case quadruples is all that matters. I was POAS like crazy from 5dp5dt through beta 1 day, and on one test after testing positive I didn't get a line; it depends on the concentration of your urine. If you are drinking lots of water which you should be it will be less concentrated which results in light or no lines.

Try not to panic and all you can do is wait for the second beta.

When I had my chemical my beta was 16. My doctor said that they look for anything over 25, so I think your number is good. Sending you lots of sticky dust!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

You can't go by how dark the lines are on the tests. Every individual test, even from the same batch, is different so you can't compare them.

Help! Beta question

I used to love FRER back in the day but recently I have found them to not be consistent when it comes to line colors. I had dark lines with a beta of 10 and light lines with a beta of 300...go figure. I think the dye they use varies by box. I definitely wouldn't go with the line colors.
