Help choosing granite edge- UPDATED
We are getting contemporary shaker style cabinets in our new kitchen and cannot agree on an edge for our granite. The granite store recommended the half inch bevel. I like the eased edge (pretty much no edge - i am a simple girl). DH likes the ogee. We have to decide this week. Please help! (cost is not an issue)
ETA: image of granite edges
Update: now that cabinets are in, the temporary countertop has the ogee and DH can see how it doesn't go with the style of the kitchen. We are going with eased. Yay! It will be here on Thursday.

Re: Help choosing granite edge
I like the look of the eased edge but think the bevel edge is more practical.

Re: Help choosing granite edge
I'm partial to the 'cove' edge. Some of the others seem too fussy or too plain.

Re: Help choosing granite edge
If you are going to the contemporary look, I would go with your choice, Eased. If not, I actually like the double ogee.

Re: Help choosing granite edge
I have the eased in my kitchen and the ogee in my bathroom! I prefer the eased based on your description.

Re: Help choosing granite edge
I have the bevel in my kitchen, but think I like the ogee best.
I choose the bevel for simplicity but now I am bored of it and wish I had something a tad more.

I have ogee in my kitchen and I love it. That being said, I don't think it goes with a contemporary kitchen. I think something simpler, like the eased, would go better with that look.

Re: Help choosing granite edge
I think it's personal preference and also it depends on the style of your kitchen.
I have kind of a country look in my kitchen - cream cabinets with nickle hardware. I really liked the bevel... but the designer I worked with felt it looked to industrial for the soft kitchen I was creating.. and she was right. We went with the Double Ogee - the curves fit really well with the style.
With Shaker cabinets and a more contemp look.. I'd go with the bevel. I do not love the eased look (again personal preference) because it seems 'unfinished' to me.

Re: Help choosing granite edge
I too have shaker style doors and am going with the more simpler eased or bevel look... I think those are the best styles for shaker cabinets.
I've heard that bullnose makes granite look cheap, like corian.

Re: Help choosing granite edge
I'm not a fan of the bullnose or bevel.
I'd be between the eased edge and Ogee, I chose the ogee on mine, but if I had shaker style cabinets and was going for more modern simple look I'd consider eased.
depending on the company they can do more or less eased. for instance my master bath tub surround we had them do with a more eased edge to have less sharpness to it, if you sit on it.

Re: Help choosing granite edge
I have ogee on my quartz. Like the way it gives a finished look without being too plain or too fussy.

Re: Help choosing granite edge
We have half bullnose on our counters and ogee on our island.
I prefer the bullnose and wish we had gotten that on everything.
Between the eased and the ogee - definitely eased.

Re: Help choosing granite edge
Not a fan of rounded or anything too fancy so we went with the Bevel edge, clean and simple.
Not great pics but you can see it...
