Help!!! DD got a mosquito bite yesterday and woke up this morning with her eye swollen and almost shut
She got bitten on her eyebrow yesterday, and it looks like she is rubbing and scratching it and this morning woke up and her eye is swollen and almost shut!!! Peds office isn't open for another hour..anything I can do..She's in fine spirits and doesn't seem to be affecting her

we had the same issue with ds over the summer... we ended up giving him benedryl as it was right between both eyes and they were both swollen shut (he was 23 months at the time).....

I have benadryl at home, but not sure if it was recalled or not, going to check now, and hopefully wait it out until I see the ped....
UGH poor baby, and we have pictures tomorrow for school..she's going to look like rocky balboa....LOL

this happened to me when i was 2...bites on both my eye lids and they were swollen shut. give her some benadryl and she will be ok...it dosent really hurt just feels weird. (ive had it happen since then...weird i know)

Same thing happened to us. We just gave Benadryl and it helped a ton. She'll be fine since it's not the eye, just the area around it. It looks worse than it actually is.

Call your ped if the Bendryl doesnt work. When this happened with DS, he needed a steroid and it worked right away.

Thanks everyone. Just got back from the ped. Benadryl it is..Just gave it to her with a fight but she got most of it

We had the same problem last year, the day before school photos. 
Benedryl took care of it. The first day he looked like a prizefighter, next day he was fine and the photo came out beautifully!

AJ gets that reaction.. We have a routine around here because it happens SOOO often and after one visit to the ped we all (ped included) came up with the following
I use oral claritin to provide antihistamines (sp)
I apply a topical cream of Benedryl or calamine lotion (but on her face I use california baby stuff)
I use oral tylenol (generic) to provide anti infammatory
Usually I do this right after I see a bite and it keeps it from getting ballooned out of porportions.

DS had this and we were pretty sure it was a bug bite but took him to the doctor just in case. We gave him benedryl but after a day or 2, it was gone. The doctor also mentioned it always is more swollen after they wake up.

I noticed this, it got a little better after she woke, but still swollen!!! She looks like she was punched in the eye
