Help! How to get him to stay asleep???

Nicholas is 8 weeks old and falls asleep easily when he lies on his tummy on my or my husband's chest. As soon as I put him down in his pack & play or crib, he wakes up and starts to cry immediately. So he has not been taking long naps and becomes overtired. Any suggestions?

My mother says to let him cry, but I can only do that for like 10 minutes, then i feel bad.

Re: Help! How to get him to stay asleep???

DD did this the 1st month. She is still a good tummy sleeper and would def prefer to sleep on her tummy then her back.

We transitioned her by making sure she was 100% out cold before we put her down on her back, and we got her soo close to her bed we could lay in it when we put her down. Little by little, she went down easier, and stayed asleep.

now at 2 months old, she goes down 1/2 awake and puts herself to sleep. We have noticed that if she falls asleep on us now, she will get wiggly and wants to put down.

ETS: Is he crying or just fussing? Gianna fusses and we leave her in her bed until the fussing turns to cries. Usually the fussing turns to sleeping.

Same thing here and DS will be 2 months tomorrow. We just found a swing that he likes (3rd one). He was also very gassy and this swing seems to help. It swings side to side instead of back and forth. We also have found that sleeping him on his side is better for him, he hates his back.

Errr you could get him to stay asleep by renting a dvd and not putting him down. Not great for your hobbies or butt, but boy will you catch up on the movies!

If you must get up and move, perhaps a sling would allow your son to get the closeness he seems to want and you to get some mobility.

My daughter took her daytime naps on me for a few months, then was in the swing for a few months, then got too big for the swing and started napping on me again, until she was finally old enough to let cry. (8 weeks seems a bit too young to expect self soothing.)

Are you swaddling him? Wrap him up nice and tight, and see if that works.
