Help! I don't think my NB is getting enough milk.
Everything was going well with BFing but all of a sudden, DS never seems to want to BF. He sleeps all the time. When we wake him, he'll nurse for a few minutes but then fall asleep again. Most of the time, he seems not interested in milk. I don't know what to do. I don't know what changed. He was drinking like a champ for the past week. I was constantly nursing him. I don't know why he changed.
Did anything similar happen to anyone? Can you help?

the older they get the more efficient they are at nursing....meaning they get milk faster than when they first started nursing. My boys were efficient from day 1 and only nursed 10 mins max. Is she having lots of wet and poop diapers? That is how you can tell what she is getting....as long as the diapers are there - she is getting enough

They do get more efficient as they get older. How old is your DS? Is he having wet diapers? I didn't wake my DS at night after he came home and during the day he BF every 3-4 hours.

Is he having wet/dirty diapers? They get more efficient over time and it doesn't take forever to nurse them like it did in the beginning. How old is your baby?

DS could be going through a growth spurt. Some babies tend to be more sleepy during the growth spurt. Does he have enough wet and dirty diapers? If so, then I wouldn't worry.

Babies take what they need.
Abby is 7 months and I am lucky if she can finish a 6 ounce bottle. She is simply not a big eater BUT she DOES let me know when she is hungry. Yours will too.

I have noticed the opposite-- DD used to nurse for 10-15 minutes on each breast but now wants to nurse for an hour sometimes! It is not fun! She also wants to eat constantly and has tons of wet/ poopy diapers. I guess it is a growth spurt -- she is 4 weeks tomorrow.

ITA with this. If he's sleeping so much, it's because something is going on in his little brain that's requiring lots of energy! As Goldi said, he WILL let you know when he's hungry!
If you find he's going long stretches, pump in the meanwhile. I was lazy and didn't do that in the beginning and it took awhile for my supply to build up.

Yes, he has a lot of wet/dirty diapers. Normally I wouldn't be concerned but I was told he should have 8-12 feedings per day and we are probably doing about 6 per day. Also, we were told 15 minutes PER boob. DS usually only does one boob for about 15 minutes.
However, when I pump, I have a huge supply of milk and I don't have to pump long. I am hoping that DS is getting everything he needs.

I think it sounds like you guys are doing fine---those are just guidelines, not all DC BF the same amount of time and some only do one side per feeding
