Help!! If your child was sick - WWYD - ER related
DS is 22 months and has been sick since Thu night. He had a high fever Fri & Motrin/Tylenol combo didn't seem to be knocking it out. I brought him to the ped on Fri and they determined it was not strep, no ear infection but the flu. (I had it last weekend myself) Liquids, OTC med (tylenol motrin) and rest was prescribed. Fri all he did was hang on me. He didn't sleep at all on Fri. Sat he slept all day. When I say all day, I'm not exaggerating. He'd wake up for a little bit but crash back down on the pillow. He will not eat anything but is drinking - sometimes willingly, other times I have to put the sippy spout in his mouth 5x to get him to take a sip. He has been wetting diapers. He slept again last night and now today is basically sleeping all morning. His fever is lower (99.6) but the sleeping is freaking me out. I called the ped and he didn't seem concerned bc it's the flu but I'm not sure if he truly gets how long DS has been sleeping. I have 2 SILs who are nurses (and mothers) and they both didn't find the sleeping strange. Honestly I've never had one of my kids so sick that they slept this much. The pediatrician was on the fence with sending him to the ER and finally said to bring him. I don't so much have a problem with bringing him as I do with bringing him and making him more miserable if he needs to rest. sitting in the ER cannot be comfortable and they will start poking and prodding him...
If my ped heard how he is and right away said to get him to the ER, I'd have been gone a long time ago but it was so on the fence.
It sounds crazy but would you take your child? It sounds like a no brainer but like I said, since the ped was not adamant from the get-go, I don't want to subject him to unncessary stuff. Additionally, I have to go the LIJ (I live on SS in Eastern NAssau) and get someone to come over to watch my other kids since DH is working.
Anyone tried PM Pediatrics? If so, is it a better alternative to the ER?

we went to PM Peds onmce, it was great,.they were very friendly and prompt. However, no need to go anywhere, your child has the flu, it is just a waiting process. Liquids and sleep and motrin is the cure My kids have 103-104 fevers for 6 days with the flu, and they sleep OR wine NON-STOP

LIJ has an urgicare center for kids to push the not so critically ill kids through. I think they're open on Sundays since I get called in there...

Re: Help!! If your child was sick - WWYD - ER related
this was me exactly yesterday.
Josh was so limp and lifeless all day. He could not lift his head...I thought about going to ER and even told Leo before he left for work that I might.
Josh has been sick and lazy before, but this was extreme even though his fever was mid grade.
Well, fever spiked, had a seizure, we went to ER, they checked him out and sent us home.
I was also sick this week, aches and chills, no appetite...Josh was only drinking here and there, no eating.
