Help ladies... my friend who is 30 weeks...

is experiencing cramps since last night... she said they feel like period cramps but in her stomach, not lower belly... and her back aches... I said maybe she's dehydrated or braxton hicks? What do you all think?

Is that her only symptom?

It is one of the signs of pre-term labor but usually most women have more than one.

Are they coming at any regular frequency?

She should call the doctor. The nurse will ask her other questions and they might ask her to come in.

I had a pre-term labor scare at 29 weeks (not uncommon for twins at all). My OB had me come in, they examined me, did an ultrasound to check heartbeats and monitor fluid to see if there was a drop. They also hooked me up to a fetal monitor to check for distress.

The OB wound up ruling it a slight case of the stomach virus which it was. It's still going around so hopefully that's what she has as well.

She should definitely call the doctor

I think so too since at this point in pregnancy you can and will experience that.

I would maybe have her drink lots of water and call doc of course.

Thanks!! I told her to call her dr and to drink a lot of water and try laying on her left...
