HELP! Lice related!
My SD had lice the few days before school started in September - finished the course of treatment and we figured she was in the clear. BM called DH this morning and said last night she spent 2 hours pulling nits out of her hair. She had them approx 5 weeks ago and the treatments worked... I am assuming she caught it again (shes 6 - 1st grade) - BM called the school to let them know (and sent her today ) but we are a little twisted as DH and I fixed the problem last time and she has them again!
I am hoping this is from school - you know how the girls sit in a circle and always play with each others hair - and I am hoping this isnt from her BMs house and will be a recurrent thing...
Any help in dealing with this?! TIA

Re: HELP! Lice related!
Did she clean all the sheets in hot water and stuff? It could just be passed back and forth I guess. Sorry.. That sucks!

It's just one of those things...
Did you retreat her after the first treatment?

She was treated after the first treatment and in between the 7 days BM had her sleep with olive oil in her hair with a shower cap on to make it easier to suffocate left overs and easier to get out leftovers. She was completely clean....

Re: HELP! Lice related!
poor thing.
it just is what it is. I went through a stint with constantly getting them. I was in elementary school at the time.. i would guess i got them School, sleep overs, etc.
Gotta not just clean those sheets but practically boil then. treat and retreat and keep super viligant about it. Got to buy new brushes or use combs you can easily boil. hot wash the towels, wipe down the whole bathroom and room that you use for treatment. Room basically has to be disinfected each and every time.
They are presistant and can be easily re-caught.
Personally i felt shame because my stepmother kept blaming me for them .. saying i was dirty etc. It was just before or around my dad married her. It was horrible. I took things into my own hands to prevent them from coming back.
Good Luck

Re: HELP! Lice related!
Lice is going through a few grades at dds school(she didnt get it) but a few friends did......the parents hired Lice Beaters to get rid of it and then put the olive oil in their hair all night

A reinfestation isnt uncommon...
I would definitely recommend getting the RX shampoo from the doctor or hiring a company like Lice Beaters....
I would also inquire with the school what precautions they are taking....
Our school will require the children to keep their coats in their backpacks or plastic bags so nothing is touching...also no circle time on the rug etc...

Re: HELP! Lice related!
Thanks everyone. BM is looking into lice beaters for SD . We are going to go over our home with a fine tooth comb and make sure its perfect. She's only been here once since her reinfestation and it was only for a few hours. BM also called the school to see what's going on - such as rug time, girls playing with each others hair, sharing brushesn etc. This should hopefully fix it. I just feel terrible for her
