Help me figure out what to wear tomorrow-please
So tomorrow we are going to an afternoon Bar Mitzvah and since we are Catholic, I haven't been to very many of theses. Since it is afternoon, I am figuring I can wear a knee-length dress but am wavering between a print or black.
Part of me loves my paisley dress
The other part of me thinks black is easy.
I have a simple black dress almost like this one (with a boatneck and a tie at the waist) and I have a short sleeved stretch cotton shirt dress.
Any thoughts? Should I be brave and wear a pattern or be boring and wear black?

either dress would be fine. during the service at the synagogue, out of respect, i would cover your shoulders with a wrap or shawl or cardigan.

I have cardis for either of them. But we are only attending the reception since the service is at 9:30AM and we are not close friends (co-worker).
I guess I need to know if I need if these dresses are formal enough. The last thing I want is to be underdressed around DH's coworkers.

Re: Help me figure out what to wear tomorrow-please
does the invitation give any hints as to the fanciness of the party? is it on long island?
if the party is in central NJ or upstate NY, then IMO the paisly would be just fine. for long island or north jersey or westchester, i would dress up a bit more, so IMO, the black would be better w/ some accessories to jazz it up!

It is in NHP. I asked DH to ask the father (his coworker) how formal it would be and the response DH got was suit for him and dresses for me and DD.
I guess I was just looking to wear something with color instead of black. But maybe I will need to...

new hyde park usually isn't as fancy as plainview, syosset, etc...
if you really want to wear the paisly, then please do! dress it up with shoes and accessories!
if your DH wasn't told black tie, then it should be fine.
