Help me figure this out please (kind of long)
So I really don't think DD has reflux or anything like that - she doesn't have any of the symptoms and as per my ped (obviously he's not a GI) she is only fussy 10-15 minutes after eating, until she falls asleep.
I had cut out all dairy and caffeine for 2 weeks and saw NO improvement so I'm back on my "normal" diet.
She definitely prefers to be carried upright, either on my chest or shoulder (she loves the Bjorn) but only if I am moving/walking around. So just having her upright isn't a guarantee that she will be calm (making me think it's not gas or reflux).
Would it make sense if she was just fussy and inconsolable because she is tired? From the moment she wakes up to eat to the time I put her back down, she is only up for an hour max (sometimes 1.5 to 2 hours if she can't fall asleep). This girl just loves to sleep! This morning I put her in her sleep positioner, swaddled, with a pacifier, and it took her a lot less time to fall asleep than normal - and she's barely upright.
Thanks for any input.

Re: Help me figure this out please (kind of long)
Lily loves to be carried facing out and walking around. It never occurred to me that she is reflux or anything. I always just thought she preferred to be held that way. If someone holds her in a traditional way I think that she thinks it's time to eat and she gets fussy if she's not fed.
Maybe Isabella just equates being upright with being awake and being swaddled with sleeping. KWIM? Is she a baby that needs to be rocked to sleep? Does she prefer to be held while falling asleep?
That's all I got...it's been a while since I've done this.

That's how Christopher was, but it did turn out to be the formula (but I gave it 8 weeks since they are so tiny, IMO, nothing agrees with them at the beginning)
But since you changed your diet and it didn't make a difference, I got nothing

Re: Help me figure this out please (kind of long)
I guess I am just having a hard time dealing with the fact that DD is so different from how DS was... he also loved to sleep but he fell asleep on his own SO easily once we started swaddling him.
Rocking really doesn't put her to sleep - it calms her for a few minutes then she cries again. She loves the pacifier but of course it falls out and then she cries if she happens to not be fully asleep.
Last night she got up to eat at 9pm, and she fell asleep on me, but when I went to put her down for the night it took 45 minutes for her to finally fall asleep. It's so frustrating especially since she's still in our room and DH has to be up at 3:30am for work.
I would even have her sleep in the bed with me but she doesn't seem to like that either (unless she is already asleep which of course defeats the purpose).

If she does have belly troubles(like gas-not reflux) you could try a microwave heating pad. I did this on my Dr's advice and it worked wonders for my kids. Of course you can only do it until they roll over...As far as dairy it can take at LEAST two weeks to get out of your system which I know is a total PITA. She could have silent reflux...try sleeping her in her swing or rocker...

Re: Help me figure this out please (kind of long)
Aaaaahhh...my little muncher was pulling that sleep only on mommy routine for a good month. I will so get flamed for what I did to get over this. (She was still in our room and I went back to work early so desperate times and all that) First, I bought her the Tiny Love mobile and I started putting her in the crib when I was cleaning the room or folding the laundry. Just to get her used to it. Then....I let her sleep in the Boppy. I had to. Like yours, she would only sleep if held or with the pacifier. Between the Boppy and the mobile, which kept her calm enough to fall asleep I was able to get her used to doing it on her own. Granted, I was a wreck bc of the Boppy but I've weaned her off of the Boppy and things are better now.

I know it's no help but honestly, I think she's just a normal fussy newborn. But like you said since she's so different from Luca it seems like something must be wrong, but I think she's just the type of baby that wants to be held all the time. I have no advice except if that's what it is, hang in there, hopefully she'll get better soon with being put down!

I was thinking of trying the pad. I will definitely look into that. And I would love if she slept in the swing or rocker but she only lasts maybe 5 minutes there before she starts screaming

It's no help but I am beginning to think that's all it is.
Like I said - today she was swaddled, in her sleep positioner, with a pacifier and the vibration on in her PNP and she fell asleep much faster than normal. That's what kind of makes me think she is just a sleepy baby who gets fussy if she's not sleeping.
