HELP! Microsoft Word Experts
I know Word pretty well and I am having a major problem. I"m hoping someone can help me. I am working on a document that needs a left margin of 1.5 inches and right margin of 1.25 inches...easy enought right? Well, everytime I change the margins the page size increases in width on the screen but not on the "page setup" menu (which still says Letter just like I want). So, when I print it looks all shrunken on the page with the font size smaller and margins all wrong. If I choose the option on the print screen "scale to letter", it will print out ok, but I still can't figure out WHY it is doing this. Any thoughts???? TIA

Re: HELP! Microsoft Word Experts
is your page size still 8.5x11? your printer may be doing something also (from my experence) you may want to try printing the document from the upper tray (manual paper feeder mpf)

Re: HELP! Microsoft Word Experts
Yep my page setup still says the page is 8.5 x 11. I've printed from multiple computers and it is always the same so I don't think it's my printer.

Re: HELP! Microsoft Word Experts
sorry...i just printed a test page with the size in question on both word 2003 and 2007 and it printed the size it was supposed (measured with ruler)
i would copy and paste your document into a new word document and before pasteing, set your paper margins.
if you don't have any changing font, sizes, color, i would paste your data into notepad (so it loses all the formating) start a new word doc as i said before, then paste into new doc after changing paper size....

Is this in every word doc or just the one document you're working on?

I've tried to cut and paste it in a new document and as soon as I change the margins, it does the same thing. Unfortunately, I can't afford to lose all the formatting because it is my dissertation and I spent hours and hours and hours formatting tables and tons of other details to meet specific formating criteria. Thanks for your help. I guess I will never find out why this happened but I can make it print out right if I "scale to letter" on the print menu. Now, I just have to remember to do that before I hit print!

Actually, I just tried to start a new document and I changed the margins and it was fine so....it is something this file in particular. I've tried to cut and paste it but that didn't work. ARGH!
