Help need suggestions! My 3 year old starting biting!
Out of no where my 3 year old daughter started biting. She has bit my dh, my younger dd and 3 of my friends kids all since Monday I just don't even know what to do. I feel like a failure because I can't stop her. I've yelled at her and told her biting hurts, I took away her toys, sat her in time out. Last night I read on Dr Sears website that you should let a child feel her teeth on her own arm so they can feel how teeth hurt. I did that last night and than she bit again today. Most times it's been over a toy she wants but sometimes it's over nothing. She speaks and communicates well and I know that this stage is not common in her age group. Any suggestions? I'm at a loss as to what to do next.

So what I learned with biting is not to scold the biter but rather to give all the attention to the person who got bit. The bites are for attention so when the child sees that they don't get any attention (negative in this case) they stop.

I agree with above. My DS would bite when he couldn't express himself well enough and was frustrated. Any of that going on? I would rec. the book Teeth Are Not For Biting.

No she is expresses herself very clearly. I'll try not responding to her when she bites and respond more to the victim. I just hope something helps
