HELP PLEASE! Starting clomid tomorrow questions???!!!
Hi I know these are probably stupid but i have no clue!
Ok... 50mg tab... says take 2 tablets daily for 5 days.
Do you take them at the same time? At night? in the morning? One of each? Side effects?? Seems like they could be lovely!!
When should i start to "really" bd???
After my 5 days when should you ovulate? I'm hoping sooner then my usual which seems to be around CD 28ish?!? I've been charting but that has me confused too! Last month according to my BBT chart i didn't ovulate at all??? UGH!
Anyway, any words of wisdom would be helpful!!

Re: HELP PLEASE! Starting clomid tomorrow questions???!!!
I was on 50g. and then 100mg. of Clomid. I take both pills at the same time right before I go to bed. Never had a single side effect from the Clomid. While on the Clomid you should be monitored very closely with sonos and blood work so your doctor will be able to tell you when your follicles are matured and when it is likely you will ovulate and then you can BD accordingly.
I typically "O" around CD24....the Clomid didn't make it happen any sooner for me. My first cycle I took 50mg. of Clomid. My follies never matured enough, many were stuck at under 10mm and 3-4 were at 10-11mm. After a few sonos and no significant change in follicle growth they gave me 100mg. of Clomid (no AF - just went right to another round of Clomid) and within a week I had 4 mature eggs. (15mm, 17.5mm and two at 21mm) I had my trigger shot and IUI. Unfortunately though I didn't get pregnant this cycle.
Anyway, just make sure you're being closely monitored on the Clomid and you won't have to worry about missing ovulation. Good luck!

Re: HELP PLEASE! Starting clomid tomorrow questions???!!!
Do you take them at the same time? At night?in the morning? I took mine in the morning, but I'd recommend taking them at night. That's what I will do next time. This will limit the amount of side-effects that you will notice. Also, just like BC, I would pick a time to take the pill and stick to it for the whole cycle.
One of each? How many pills were you given? When I was taking 50mg, it was only 1 pill daily.
Side effects?? Seems like they could be lovely!! For me, the mood swings were the worst thing. I felt REALLY bad for DH lol. When I moved over to the 100mg, the mood swings were worse, I was SO tired and my vision was blurry. If you get blurry vision, stop taking the pils and call your doc. I called mine on the last day of the cycle and they told me to stop taking the pills if I had any left.
When should i start to "really" bd??? I would start using an OPK on day 10ish and BD when you get your smiley!
HTH!!!

i also took the clomid at night. i got some mild side effects, the headaches were the worst. they started by day 3. if your dr is not monitoring you (i think they should), then use OPKs to determine when you should BD. i ovulate earlier than usual while on clomid.

One of each? I was on 50mg once a day. if you are supposed to be on 100mg then you would take two 50mg pills per day. if you are supposed to be only on 50mg then take one 50mg per day. just make sure that the dose of the pill matches or is half of what your prescribed dosage is.
Side effects?? Seems like they could be lovely!! I actually was mildly allergic to clomid – I had mild hives on my arms and cold-like symptoms for a few days. I also had the more common “night sweats.” Mood-wise it wasn’t that bad and I didn’t really experience any other side effects like headaches or blurred vision.
When should i start to "really" bd??? I wouldn’t use an OPK until you are at least 2 days post your last pill because you can def get a false + OPK from clomid. If you don’t usually O until late in your cycle I would start using OPKs 2 days after the last pill and then BD appropriately based on that. Theoretically you should O earlier with clomid, but its not a miracle drug and doesn’t work for everyone so don’t be terribly disappointed if it doesn’t move your O date that much. As long as you are Oing in general you always have a shot of getting pg.

Most doctors will start you on the lowest dosage and move up from there to find the appropriate dosage for your body. If you are taking 2 pills a day, I'm assuming that it's 100mg.
Did a RE or GYN prescribe Clomid? Have you thought about seeing a RE? The only reason why I am asking, is that originally my GYN prescribed Clomid and did no monitoring whatsoever. Turns out I didn't respond to the 50mg at all, so he just up'd my dosage to 100mg and pretty much told me to come back if the 100mg didn't work or when I was prego. I HIGHLY recommend seeing a RE. The girls on the board really pushed the issue of going to see a RE and I'm SO glad that I did!!! I'm on my 2nd round of Clomid now and my RE is really monitoring me through sonos and bloodwork to see if I will O this round and what is going on.

I had a similar situation with my GYN. No monitoring with blood or sono. And I wasn't diagnosed with PCOS by GYN either so that meant the OPKs were useless for me.

Re: HELP PLEASE! Starting clomid tomorrow questions???!!!
I was prescribed the Clomid by my ob! Basically he said if he sends me to the re now, they will basically start me on the clomid first anyway, so he's going to just do it now! I did call and ask if i'm supposed to be starting at 100mg and he says YES! So i'm taking 2 50mg a day! I have to do this for 3 cycles, if it doesn't work then hes sending me to the re! Soooo.... as far as i know there is no monitoring with blood or sono's at this point just me, some clomid, a thermometer and i guess back to OPK's!!
I did just find out that my husbands insurance apparently doesn't cover infertility Which puts me in a bad position right now b/c even if i had to go to the re NOW i'd be paying out of pocket, so i asked to go back on my jobs ins. but have to wait until MAY to do that!!
I'm totally frustrated right now!!!!
Sorry edited to add that i was diagnosed with PCOS when i was 18! All the classic symptoms!! Was put on bc way back when to control it, but havn't been on it in FOREVER!!
Other then that nothing!! This has been the pattern

Re: HELP PLEASE! Starting clomid tomorrow questions???!!!
don't trust the OPK! i got a false positive on 14 dpo last month. i only know this now becasue i went back to the OB on dpo 38 with no sign of AF! they did an ultrasound that day and found out only then that i had a mature follie ready to go! (i should have known by the enormous amounts of EWCM i had going on)
sooooo.....listen to you body and check you cm, cp, and BBT...these don't lie!

if i were you i would DEF 10000% see an RE based on your history, your DX of PCOS, and the length of time you have been TTC (even though its #3, since you have had two mc's that's even more of a reason). if you are Oing really late in te cycle AND have experiences multiple miscarriages it can be a sign of poor egg quality due to the time between AF and ovulation being too long (the egg matures too much before being released).
the benefits of the RE specifically for you would be monitoring to see if clomid is even effective (with it's side effects - why take it for three cycles if it isnt), as well as treatment for your specific PCOS symptoms.
as for the insurance thing i think you can get around that. if you go specifically for treatment of PCOS, and you make sure the office files the paperwork under the code for treatment of PCOS and not for infertility - you can still get many things covered. it wont cover meds or IUIs or that kind of stuff - but it should cover almost all of your appointments.
good luck!!
