Help! Something wrong with my dog! - UPDATE
Update: It was colitis from something she ate, thank God. I think she may have snagged a piece of grape from DD, or a clove of garlic when my DD took the head of garlic and started peeling it in the living room.
My dog is doing a lot better. I put her on chicken/rice diet and we are going to re-introduce commercial food slowly tomorrow.
The vet said that was great to do the chicken/rice diet for those symptoms. I was worried because my dog didn't poo for over 24 hours but the vet assured that was normal because chicken and rice are highly absorbable.
I'm so glad it's nothing more serious. Thanks ladies for all your help!! ___________________________ Background: My dog's elimination patterns are that she poops morning and afternoon and pees morning, afternoon and night. She also hasn't ate anything but her food since last Monday.
On Thursday, my dog was aching to go out very early in the morning. I took her out right away and she had a very soft stool.
Thursday afternoon, I came home to find a huge pile of soft stool on the floor. There was a couple blood drops near it. She went again when I took her out, but no blood. She ate fine and acted fine and I decided to see if it would clear itself.
Friday everything seemed to be fine. She pooped normal, ate normal.
Saturday, another good day.
Sunday, woke up at 6:30am to a large pile of soft stool. It was cold so she had done it sometime in the night. I took her out again and this time it was very soft little amount with mucous and blood drips afterward. Now I'm worried.
A. Should I take her to ER vet today or wait to make an appointment tomorrow?
B. Anybody have an idea what the problem might be?
TIA!

Re: Help! Something wrong with my dog!
If there is mucus and blood keep an eye on it. If it gets worse and not to sound really gross but starts to smell horrible, and she becomes lethargic, take her straight to the ER. If she is acting fine, then i would wait til tomorrow. Could be coccidia, or giardia. Both are very treatable. Has she been around other dogs? Or even ate something off the ground where other dogs have been? That could cause it. But i would wait til tomorrow if she seems to be acting fine.

Re: Help! Something wrong with my dog!
yikes! If it were me I would bring her to the vet asap. Not the ER but just to the office. My vet is open 7 days so I would not wait. It seem like its been going on long enough. especially if she is making in the house and is trained. Something is very wrong.. try to FM leewolters she might be able to help you.

Re: Help! Something wrong with my dog!
I would grab a sample of poop and head to the vet tomorrow morning. Better safe than sorry right?
