HELP ... standing water on side of house
we have no clue what to do. with the very wet summer and wet beginning to fall, we are having a drainage issue on the side of our house.
luckily, no water in the basement but we are worrying. it looks like a marsh on the left side of our house. there are large puddles, inches deep.
has anyone ever experienced this? what can we do?

This was our problem and as you know were were getting a decent amount of water. You can go our route and have a cement path put in and pitch it away from the house. Or you can try just getting a ton of dirt and building it up to help it pitch away from the house. Make sure you keep an eye on the basement when it rains... sometimes we didn't get water in the basement at all and sometimes we did and it was alot! Before we did the cement it was happening all the time... has been dry now!

Where are your gutters on the side of the house...you may need an extender so the water isn't sitting near your house.

we have this!
we are going to call in a landscapper and see what they suggest. like Caps said, I bet it has something to do with the pitch

its kind of out of the normal landscapers thing... I am sure they can add dirt for you though if you ask. If you need someone for an estimate for the cement, our guys is great (not the smartest guy) but great work and great $.
